Maybe if University Presidents cared MORE about education than keeping their jobs or raising money. Imagine a university supporting the constitution and freedom of expression with EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS like the Teach In my university had during Viet Nam.
False equivalence. The violence has been perpetrated by the authorities goaded by some truly self-serving members of Congress. The protestors of all religions have peacefully come together and even celebrated seder amongst all religions.
I am disappointed. The protesters at Columbia from ALL religions celebrated Seder BEFORE the university invited the police in. Up to that point it was a peaceful demonstration practicing tolerance among all. As is often the case the violence came from those in charge.
I am disappointed by this cartoon from one of my favorite cartoonists. He does include the full context of the discussion but then provides a very negative commentary. The serious professors commenting, many of whom ARE Jewish, recognize a difference between protesting the illegitimate actions of a state or group and protesting an entire people. The STATE of Israel does not represent all, or even most Jews, after this war. And the state of Gaza as run by HAMAS does NOT represent the Palestinians forced to live and now die in Gaza. The right-wing cared not on bit about young white men shouting ‘Jews will not replace us" until it became a political expedient thing to mindlessly support the STATE of Israel and condemns all who don’t as anti-Semites. THIS is the reality that students are rightfully protesting.
Right wing is desperate to show something, anything to scare folks. From being anti Fascists to supporters of law and order, frightening things to the right.
