Oh Wiley, WIley, Wiley… you split an infinitive. I attribute it to the current political climate.

I keep the Christmas spirit alive year round by never paying attention to it in the first place.

We should all stop watching the news until late october, say. In Holland, as I am fond of remarking, they announce an impending election, and a month later, they vote. Refreshing.

I know that the Resurrection is the central theme of Christianity, but I think the Incarnation is also important. Think about it. God liked us so much he wanted to join our club. That’s one hell (?) of a celebrity endorsement for the human race.

Both England and colonial America tried to ban Christmas. All that wassailing good cheer was getting way too rowdy for the Puritans. Maybe they were on to something after all.

I’m not quite sure about keeping the Christmas spirit alive all year – I go into that season with a great deal of fear and trepidation, and quite frankly I’m glad when it’s over. I don’t want to feel like that all year, thank you.

Let us never forget that COMICS are really social commentary disguised as humor. It gives us a chance to laugh at ourselves and contemplate the absurdity of our existence. If you want to take offense, take it where someone cares.

Year round Christmas lights works great. Having a bad day, another politician gets caught lying, taking a bribe, embezzling, hearing any “commentator” at Fox, just flip the Christmas lights switch, and your spirits are lifted again.
