That one’s pretty high up there on the list of phrases you don’t want to hear your sister say.

I don’t recall that the Pizza delivery guy actually aided in the “Delivery”…

Hubby must be in the basement working on the miniature train schedule…

Our family story is Dad driving Mom to hospital to have Brother….uphill, in an ice storm, on Feb 13 which was a Friday that year. They made it!

Uh oh. Not the words anyone wants to hear in the middle of a storm. Any storm. Still, these are the moments of future holiday dinner renown. “Remember the time…?”

The Pizza Guy is saying to himself: “In all the houses in all the town, I had to wind up at this one?”

Don’t you dare drive her yourself. You’ll never outlive the story they’ll tell the kid- that he was born in a ditch because his dumb brother slid off the road.

Ellie has it easy. One of my neighbours in Japan gave birth to her first son in Tokyo on 10 March 1945, during the firebombing raid that burned 16 square miles (41 square km) of central Tokyo, leaving an estimated 100,000 civilians dead and over one million homeless. More than both atomic bombings put together. Her neighbours carried her from house to house fleeing the flames, and delivered the child without medical help.

By the way she credited the US for dropping the A-bombs and finally ending the war, which otherwise would have resulted in even more deaths.

I was but a toddler myself – in Brooklyn.

Better get two ambulances, one for Elly and one for Michael’s heart attack.

Here’s a question not about the main story: In today’s world, would you ever allow a pizza delivery person into your home, not just to use a phone (cell phone dead, let’s say) but then invite them to stay a while because of weather? I know this is Michael offering not Elly the adult, but I’m serious. Would you?

I’m not sure I can answer definitively. I might let them into the vestibule of the apartment building and provide chair and something to eat and drink (and tell the neighbors there was a stranger out there so be aware…). I don’t know that I’d allow a stranger into my apartment to hang out. I live alone. No boyfriend, husband, roommate to be a second defense if delivery person turns out to be the one bad apple who would rob or harm me.

Well, our granddaughter apparently decided not to leave anything up to chance. Not liking the name of April, she decided to come a month early and arrive today. We have another March birthday in our family!

My mother in law had a heart attack in a bad storm like that – a very long time ago. Took the ambulance 3 hours to get to her and more than an hour to get to the closest hospital (aka band-aide station) where upon of course they had to transfer her 90 miles away – not in an air ambulance mind you because this was podunk missouri and there was no air port even close. She came out fine, but it was harrowing to say the least.

This is so my son with older/college kids! I love to watch how he holds his own in conversation with kids who are legally “adults”. He is also in 9th grade. I love watching the Patterson kids grow as I watch my own.
