My soon to be ex-wife thought that with the 1 acre or so of grass we have at the house that a reel mower like this was appropriate. She did it once or twice and then we bought a gas one.
I much prefer the EGO battery powered one I got a Home Depot a couple years ago. Quiet, efficient, does a hell of a job, and I still do all the work without the gas storage.
Hint: What you really want is a “Riding Lawnmower.” I bought one when my oldest daughter was 10 and the youngest was 8. They LOVED riding it and fought over who got to cut the grass.
Me experience with reel mowers is they should be banned and sellers tarred and feathered! …but then I feel that way about a lot of “products” foisted on the public.

If you can work through the rusty wheels, Peter, the lawn will be cut in no time (paraphrasing Roger form that one story arc).

Actually, I noticed yesterday when getting my mail a neighbor up the street using a reel push mower. And he’s fairly elderly, too.

C’mon Peter, it’s good for you. Kids nowadays have it too easy!

Laugh it up while you can, Jason. Soon Peter will be out of school, and you’ll be the one whining about mowing the lawn.

Why spend money on a gas mower when you have a teenage boy?

The push mowers have really improved over the years to the point where mowing higher grass isn’t a task for The Incredible Hulk.

I remember thinking my grandpa’s push mower was fun to use. I was 9-10 years old at the time.

At least sharpen the blades and oil the mechanism. Or some WD40.

One of my twins wanted a push mower. His brother never lets him forget it.

It’s your fault, Peter. If you didn’t eat enough for a platoon, the family could afford a gas mower.
