I see no evidence that chickens as a species are endangered. There are probably a dozen major companies which deliver either prepared (KFC) or semi-prepared (Tyson) chicken. I live in a rural community, and no matter which road I take, I’ll come upon several homes with signs out front selling chicken eggs (both brown & white varieties) for less than stores charge. Bucky, go back to concentrating on the real problem …. Monkeys & Ferrets.

I read it first as an assass in chicken. Wasn’t sure what that meant.

The idea of chickens being endangered as a species seemed ludicrous, so I Googled it just out of curiosity. Sorry Darby, bungled this one. Certain breeds of chicken are endangered, but not chickens as a species (at least, no more than humans are an endangered species).

Of course, we are making great strides toward insuring that all species are endangered. It’s our special talent.

They were trying to promote building a chicken megatropolis that would raise and process five million chickens a week.

Satchel’s attempt at humor in order to diffuse the situation is a rare moment of savvy for him. But the idea of chickens as an endangered species? Thousands of restaurants nationwide that serve it every day suggest otherwise. As always, Bucky takes the upper hand in the stand off!

Hmm, he didn’t say the species was endangered, but that chickens as a species were in danger, which is true, as a species they are on everyone’s menu, so they are constantly in danger.

Chickens are domestic, primarily derived from red jungle fowl, which are listed as a species of “least concern.” HOWEVER, this tangent isn’t the point of the comic today.
