Putin wanted troops on the ground somewhere in Syrian/Turkey area so Hump obliged him and withdrew our forces so Russian troops could occupy the area and sent our own to the useless business of guarding Syrian oil wells.
Technically, if the Pentagon completely removes troops from an area, and then decides to send troops in again, permission must be granted by Congress.
The very idea of trying to explain such a radical concept to the present “Commander in Chief”gives the present crop of “Trump’s Generals” heart palpitations – hence the residual forces left in place (everywhere).
While the Weasel in the White House sends troops back into Syria to guard someone else’s oil, The US receives no oil from these fields. One can conclude that the purpose of them and the military mission is to distract from the facts being presented in the impeachment hearing. Their mission on the world battlefield is important for the US and world stability. So the hundreds of Kurd allies that the Weasel allowed to be killed by Turkey served whose international interests? If the cowardly owner of mysterious bone spurs hadn’t ordered US troops from the field, hundreds of our Kurdish allies would be alive today. Does not a single Republican have a sense of honor and responsibility to the citizens of the United States. When will they stop putting up their votes in exchange for ROLLS of CASH ?
Should never have been there, but it’s (morally) a trap. The deadline on the only way I see to get out has already expired because of Bonespurs’ random walk behavior. But it seems like a better idea to actually withdraw slowly and carefully.
I think because our history in the US is a Army made of reservists and draftees with a cadre of career soldiers that we are missing something that the British Army and other long time professional forces have — a history of poetry and song about how much fun it is to screw over soldiers. Meanwhile, I’ll call Tennyson and raise you Kipling…

Forward, the Light Brigade!”
Was there a man dismayed?
Not though the soldier knew
Someone had blundered.
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die.
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.

We’re only in it for the oil. The 600 will guard oil wells.

Trump says that the soldiers are there to protect “OUR (U.S.) oil”. Appalling.

Why 600? Maybe Trump thinks that our troops are only half as effective as the Spartans?
