    I work with enough people where English is not their first language that I have learned to rephrase stuff using different words when I am misunderstood. In this case, just rearranging the words would work.

    Dude, get yourself a thesaurus. Another word for “wrecked” is “broken”. Maybe if you say"broken tile" the guy will get it.
