When we lived in Syria, we enjoyed araq, which is not too different from grappa. but very smooth. With your meal you would order a bottle, the smallest being a quarter, whether that was a quarter liter or a quarter of a “fifth” I do not know. Pour it in your glass, pour in ice water to make it cloudy, and enjoy. It did go well with the lamb and we never had a problem finishing a bottle.

Oops! Grappa is not the same as white wine, dear.
But now I would like a glass of grappa.

Angela needs to get a grip on her grappa problem.

I just looked it up, and grappa can have as much as 60% alcohol. No wonder she can’t hold her grappa.

I drank grappa… once…
with some Italian friends… one of whom worked at the winery that made it.
OMG.
I’m told grappa’s are all different…
this place only made a little, for family and staff… not for sale like their wines.
So maybe it wasn’t like other grappa’s… I dunno.
I rather liked the first taste on my tongue….
but then, I like black coffee, dark chocolate… and bitter ale.
As I recall… it was kind of like… um… very strong, not very sweet, grape-y brandy,
mixed with…. vineyard mist… a nice warm hearth…
the soul of Italy (I was told)…
and …um… a bit of earthy musk…
and some raging hell-fires….
that tore out your tongue,
poured lava into your stomach…
and tried to wrestle you to the floor.
Not like having a beer with your pizza.
Once was enough… but I’m a lightweight.

Angela doesn’t have a drinking problem.
She drinks. She falls down. No problem.
