It is not the gun that pulls the trigger, it is the finger that pulls the trigger.

This is why those who support common sense gun safety — those who love our children more than weapons of war that do not belong in civilian situations — want to limit which fingers have access to those triggers, and make sure the triggers are NOT capable of pulling themselves (automatic and semi-automatic weapons with high capacity magazines).

We want to make sure that the fingers on triggers are not attached to those who are so mentally impaired that they need their affairs to be managed by a court-ordered conservator (the Obama standard that Trump repealed, while also making sure the mentally ill had no access to mental health care), or those who are on the no-fly terror watch list, or who have been convicted of violent felonies including domestic violence.

Those who want to make sure that guns are readily available to violent felons, terrorists, domestic abusers and the mentally ill, seek to obstruct any attempt to close the gun show and Internet loopholes, or any other measure that would keep inappropriate fingers off of triggers (while protecting the rights of others to reasonable firearms access).

The same concept also applies in the voting booth. Republicans, who are terrified of real turnout by real voters, know this. This is why they are trying so hard to suppress those fingers from pushing the buttons in the voting booths.

The NRA says “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.” Right, mostly. Guns, modern ones especially, just make it a whole lot easier for people to kill people. Lots and lots of people…

Did you know that if our current homicide rate was at the historical high, there would be over 35,500 HOMICIDES in ONE YEAR. We’re not even half that bad right now….

Assuming that the trigger is allowed to work that is. In that regard, both parties prefer to pretend that there’s nothing wrong with the mechanism.

Look at Tom’s little blurb in the lower right corner. Call your Congressional representative and let your thoughts be known. Let them know that you are a voter and will be deciding her or his fate.

In 2020, you can vote for LOYAL, LAW-ABIDING Candidates who actually believe in the Rule of Law, The U.S. Constitution, and who support RATIONAL BACKGROUND CHECKS and SENSIBLE FIREARMS REGULATIONS… or you can vote for the traitors in the G.O.P. who are owned by America’s Deadliest Domestic Terrorist group, the N.R.A.!

Restore the government of the people, by the people and for the people so no will feel that they need to have a gun to take the law into their own hands. Vote for representatives who love their country and all its people not just their party, their sponsors, members of their race/religion, and themselves.

title semi-auto the same way we title full auto. It worked then, it will work now. No buy backs, no “bans”, but we achieve total control of semi-autos, just as we did machine guns.

Only 3% of those that commit violent crimes are mentally ill. [National Council for Behavioral Health, 16 August 2019, Science, p.623]

So now the federal court ruled that the electoral college doesn’t have to adhere to the majority vote of that state. They pretty much can vote for who they want. I saw this yesterday, but the media isn’t outraged over this.

True that it is “people” that do the shooting.. but also true is that people are easily manipulated and the trump (and other idiots) rhetoric is inspirational to a select group of people.

…but, but, but the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is with a good guy with a gun, so we have to buy more guns, which means we have to buy more guns, which means we have to buy more guns…. unless we take the guns away from the bad guys, hmmm

Wayne LaPierre is more concerned with his lavish lifestyle than the safety of America’s children. So what if a child’s life is ruined by a gun, as long as Wayne can insulate himself from the truth with the things only money can buy, he knows where his allegiance is.

“We can’t have any limitations on firearms!!!!!” Repeat by screaming, endlessly…..

Of course, there has been a federal prohibition for private ownership of ‘machine guns’ since something like 1930. These were the guns that created mass slaughter in WWI. We don’t hear anything from the NRA about this, but it is one of the legal limits on the 2nd Amendment. So, yes, it is constitutionally permitted to have legislation which puts limits on constitutional clauses. Which is reassuring: There should not be constitutional limits on common sense.

Very true, Tom. WE, the People ARE the trigger for all of our government. WE, the People make and enable the ‘bully pulpit’. WE, the People govern unless WE, the People, give it away.

The purpose of the 2nd Amendment is not just for self protection or for hunting/survival. The PRIMARY purpose of the 2nd Amendment is so that WE, the People can be armed against an oppressive and/or corrupt government, including our own. It is meant to be a reminder to our elected that WE, the People govern ourselves. Change is not to be taken lightly, nor for the sake of change.

The 2nd Amendment should not be altered, but simply enforced.

    mi·li·tia/məˈliSHə/

    noun

all able-bodied civilians eligible by law for military service.

That means ALL citizens of legal age.

“Well Regulated” should be self explanatory. Regulate gun ownership within our 2nd Amendment.

The (temporary) ban on assault weapons was actually endorsed (whether grudgingly or not) by the then National Rifle but currently National Russian Association. And you know what? During that ban, not ONE person had his second amendment rights infringed upon. If that ban were active for the next billion years, and IF no further laws were passed, not ONE person would have his second amendment rights infringed upon because of the ban. Just saying.

But now the gate comes down

    The pangs are growing dimmer

You hold a gun to your head

But the gun has no trigger

People kill people with guns because it is easier, quicker and more satisfying the body count. Why they do it is another matter.
