If Doc uses the gun on Mitchell, will he later claim that he thought it was a prop and didn’t know it was real and loaded? He could claim he was using it to scare off Mitchell and not kill him.
This would have been the perfect way to bring Bug Bailey from the 1990 movie into Tracyverse canon, instead of having Sam be stuck monitoring the tracer.

And is there gunplay? I just saw something odd… 8-TRACY: I don’t think so. But maybe they updated it for today’s audience. Why do you ask. SAM: Awh, never mind. You explained it. You’re like a genius detective Dick! TRACY: Yeah, I am. Now RAISE THAT CURTAIN
Doc has 3 targets… Tracy, Sam, and Mitchell, and a possible 4th… Sally, if she should fail him somehow…( Vitamin and Kandikanecare wisely staying out of the action… )
Tracy is Doc’s prime target since he wanted “Tracy dead” to keep Tracy from stopping him and his drug operation and since he knows that Tracy is in the theatre… Remember, Doc tried to kill Tracy outside the Police Station… ( I hope that Tracy and Sam are wearing bullet-proof vests… )
As for the Thermos… The last time that Kandikane’s bag was seen, it was on a cargo cart handled by the guy who took the bag off Kandikane’s back…
And the play : “Our Town” will have more action and drama than Thornton Wilder planned for it to have…
The thermos is on the move! —By the stagehands again, or has one of the principals grabbed it (Sally? Mitchell? Little Doc? —in diminishing order of likelihood)?
Little Doc also is on the move, in any case, and in trigger-happy psycho mode. At whom will he shoot first? Tracy is his most desired target, but who will be the first target acquired?
Looks like the Patterson Playhouse is about to have some loud, unamplified/unmiked sound effects! And it will be in need of some patching and painting, at the very least….

Yes, it seems that Sally, the Thermos, Mitchell, and Doc are all in play. I guess that Sam received the message from Vitamin on those headphones.
I’m not sure why Tracy is asking if the tracer is working. I think it’s mostly to tell us readers that there is a functioning tracer.
