Out of thin air. It’s a popular medium for forming many things, including “evidence”, and especially “statistics”. It’s far more malleable than modelling clay.
This book, which was written by a speechwriter and TV producer, has 4 positive review and 2 negative reviews on Amazon. The 1-star review begins, “Among the worst written books I’ve ever read.”
Danae should actually like science fiction, because reading it might actually give her hope that someday there will be a cure for booger-brained boys……..
When I was a teenage girl (40+ years ago), I was informed that I didn’t like science fiction, because science fiction was for boys – this from a female teacher. Pity I had already been reading it for at least 5 years and had a remarkably eclectic collection by then…
Poor Danae, robbing herself of the opportunity to read some truly great fiction. Someone needs to tell her that she’s letting Jeffrey dictate her tastes.
Since Abaddon appears in the Hebrew Bible as both a place of destruction and an angel of the abyss I would have guessed Jeffrey was reading Biblical commentary. Either that or a sequel to James K Morrow’s fantasy, Blameless in Abaddon, a sequel to his Towing Jehovah.
“Abaddon Consortium, the first book of a trilogy, is a Sherlock Holmes meets The Lord of the Rings adventure appealing to a wide audience, both male and female.”- http://www.lawrencemillerbooks.com/abaddon-consortium.html
Danea, have you ever read Ursula K. Le Guin, Octavia E. Butler, James Tiptree Jr. (AKA Alice Bradley Sheldon), Mary Shelley, N.K. Jemisin, Margaret Atwood, Nnedi Okorafor, Andre Alice Norton, etc. (Women science fiction authors)?

Oh, the pleasure of a book in the summertime. Reading because you want to, not for school. Ray Bradbury, take me away from this dreary life.

Anyone seen DD-Wiz? He’s been absent, hope he didn’t get the Funny Papers Police mad at him again.

Of course, Science Fiction is one of the Fastest Growing genres.
Eclipsed only by Japanese Anime & Manga.

Of course, Science Fiction & Fantasy are the two Fastest Growing genres.
Eclipsed only by Japanese Anime & Manga.
Romance still leads the pack, but a lot of Romance authors are starting to hedge their bets by doing Cross Genre stories.
