These men should be forced to adopt the babies, love them and raise them as their own, feeding them and clothing them, and giving them a good college education too.
And the old white lady governor signed the bill. What did you expect? She supported pedophile roy moore in the last election. Whole damn place is full of perverts.
Wonder how long it will be before we find out about an Alabama right to life politician or other public figure procuring an abortion for his girlfriend?
You believed it when Barr said he would be nonpartisan; he just lied about that. Wait until this “law” goes to the Supreme Court, and see how much Kavanaugh lied.
Some fine folk you have running the state.. shows the rest of the county what inbreeding will do. It is legislation like this that makes you appreciate not living in Alabama.
1. This law is rank sexual discrimination. The doctor (whether male or female) is subject to life in prison. The person who hires the doctor – a woman – is subject to no penalty at all. Hey, Republicans should be consistent about the law. Or is it legal for me to hire a contract killer in Alabama? (tongue firmly in cheek – but this seems to me a valid reason for voiding the law).
2. Forget about the abortion pill, too. Regarding mifepristone: “Due to the possibility of adverse reactions such as excessive bleeding, which may require a blood transfusion, and incomplete abortion, which may require surgical intervention, the drug is only considered safe if a physician who is capable of administering a blood transfusion or a surgical abortion is available to the patient in the event of such emergencies.”
Having had friends die of pregnancy, having known someone refused an abortion by a judge even though every physician who addressed the court said that neither she nor the fetus would survive the pregnancy, but if it was terminated then at least she would survive, and knowing that of the world’s industrialized nations the U.S. has the worst complication and survival stats, I can not help but be appalled by the recent states’ restrictions. (In Georgia a woman who has a miscarriage will actually have to somehow prove that she did not get an abortion. How does a person prove a negative? I ask that as someone who miscarried and who certainly has known women across the generations who have done so since it is not a particulary unusual outcome.)

So exactly what problem does this law solve?

No exception for rape and incest? I’m sure that’s how a lot of babies are conceived down there.

Neil Young was right.

Alabama is one of those states still fighting the Civil War. So, this kind of behavior is to be expected.

Not to worry; rich white men will still be able to afford to have their daughters and mistresses “visit” Canada should the need arise.

Well, will the state of Alabama support pregnant women until they come to term?
Will miscarriages be considered murder through negligence?
Will there be any women left in Alabama next year, or will they all have moved interstate?

I predict record numbers of women voters in 2020, and likely record numbers of women candidates. Until then, record sales of coat hangers……

This bill is actually a compromise.
The hard liners wanted life in prison for the woman, but Compassionate Conservatives forced them to scale back the penalty to only 99 years.
.
I mean, they’re not animals, ya know.

Better invest in coat hanger stocks.

I’m for arming the woman to take back their state from the slavers and Christian fascists. AR15’s are the best for cleaning up a very bad govt.
