Good HORSE-sense from Danae’s best friend. She’s lucky to have him.

Definition of horse sense (google it): “common sense, good sense, sense, sensibleness, native wit, native intelligence, mother wit, wit, judgment, sound judgment, level-headedness, prudence, discernment, acumen, sharpness, sharp-wittedness, canniness, astuteness, shrewdness, judiciousness, wisdom, insight, intuition, intuitiveness, perceptiveness, perspicacity, vision, understanding, etc.”

“Common sense” is not common. It is that which has to be pointed out to most people.

Once, for three days and two nights, I was pursued and harassed relentless on an island inhabited by nothing but wild horses. The day I left for the mainland (if you didn’t catch the 5 o’clock ferry you were out of luck until morning), one stallion spotted me observing him with field glasses from a distance of about a quarter-mile, and didn’t waste a second charging up the dunes to get into my business. I’ve never had a more harrowing experience backpacking, and had to grow eyes in the back of my head. Other than that, I had a good time.

Danae is stalling off the inevitable ‘show and tell’ with Dad. Evidently from the tone of the strip, Doom awaits.

The real wisdom (good advice, if you choose to take it) is in the first two panels.

Looks like rebel Danae might be ready to join the rest of the herd.

I always trust Wiley, so I KNEW this arc wasn’t about politics. But a report card is kind of a letdown…….

The truth will out eventually. I wondered where this was going. I always suspected our son of signing his own report cards. ( with my signature of course )

Well, there is it is. Finally. I have had long ‘talks’ with various girl friends about all my faults and failures and after a few hours of this constant nagging about everything, they finally get around to telling me I left the toilet lid up again a couple nights ago. Sheesh!

Yes, Danae, you are the business of your unfortunate teachers.

I wonder if drawing political cartoons constitutes “minding ones own business?”

It’s no secret, but it’s none of your business either.

Some kids sure do have short attention spans for the unpleasant. By the time my brother was 5 he’d figured out that the swat, followed by a lecture was worth the price if he got to really stick it to whichever of the sibs he currently had a hate relationship with. My parents never did quite figure out how to cope with that. He then went on to become a priest and is in fact one of my two favorite sibs, now. (Yes, I have more than two).
