My wife does that. I’m never sure if she’s talking to herself or to me. And yes, I’m a bit like Earl when it comes to listening to the persistent chatter.

This confirms what I’ve suspected. Wives think we are present when they tell us something and then blame us later for not knowing and claim “we weren’t listening.”

Why do people assume that you’re talking to someone other than yourself?It’s when I start arguing with myself that it becomes an issue.

If all you do is babble and continue on you will get tuned out. If you want my attention, then use my name.

Or better yet, you don’t want a solution to the problem so why do you care if he’s listening or not? Or even present?

Both my wife and I are guilty of apparently not listening when the other one has told us something.
