Sophie seems to have little faith in the squirrel GPS. I, on the other hand, have full confidence their GPS will lead them under the wheels of a car. That is the only explanation I can find for their abysmal road crossing ability.

They and all their kind bury far more nuts then they will eat so now saplings will spring up producing more trees. Bluejays do that too.

i left peanuts in the shell out for the squirrels, but they would not touch them. the blue jays arrived and quickly took care of all of them!
