Ah, the appearance of Mac Manc McManx, one of the more productive characters in the GF history.

Two English accents mixed up – half Manc (Manchester), half Estuary (south-east England). I will explain:- Butcher’s = Butcher’s Hook = look (Cockney rhyming slang)- To cock summat up = to spoil something- Knackered = tired, exhausted- Bevvy = beverage (probably, but not certainly, a nice cup of tea)- Kip = sleep- Diddled = pinched, nicked, stole- Brolly = umbrella- Khazi = lavatory (US “rest room”?)- Blighty = England, home

It sounds like a tram ran over his pram when he was a wee bairn.

I think I’ve been watching too many UK youtube videos, ’cause I understood all of that.

Is this the second or third iteration of the introduction of MMM in the last couple of years? Just curious if anyone (Herb?) remembers.

That ‘well- knackered’ sounds a titch ominous…..or promising….depending on your translation, of course…..Sounds like he just got off the boat from Britain…..

I’ve lived in England and I can understand everything Mac says. But I have trouble understanding American shows and movies, especially when they’re set in inner cities or in the South. It’s English as she is spoke.

I am almost certain that last panel is just word salad…

Mac is back! All is well.

I just know this would be funny, if I spoke Cockney.

I always thought Mac talked more like a typical Chelsea or Arsenal fan than a Manchester supporter. But it may be more difficult to write in a Mancunian accent.

And as ever, it is too much trouble to get the City scarf and hay colour right… (sky blue FWIW)
