You should vote Democratic because a Republican vote is a vote in support of a mentally unstable, unconscionable @$$hole who is totally unqualified and doesn’t give a f&#^ for the American people.
Vote for the Democrat for Governor and State representatives. If it wasn’t for Republican voter suppression (and clueless “left” telling people voting does not matter) the Senate might not be out of reach.
At some point you have to wonder why Ted Rall is so determined to reduce Democratic voter turnout. He rarely has anything negative to say about Trump or Republicans, but he constantly harps on the failures of the Democrats and why there’s no reason to vote for them.
Ted, when you come up with a better plan, you’ll let us know, won’t you? This kind of nonsense only encourages people NOT to vote, which means the GOP wins and continues to dismantle what remains of our democracy and institutionalizes itself into a white-supremacist, fascist, corporatist state. Whereas the Democrats are…ineffectual? Well, gee whiz gosh golly, that’s just awful! If we had a Congress full of ineffectual people, then at least they wouldn’t be stripping healthcare, citizen’s rights, and Social Security the way this all-too-effective Republican Congress has!
Whereas the truth is that this year we have more women and more progressives running than ever before, but we NEED PEOPLE TO VOTE!
You do this over and over again, Ted: it’s like you can’t actually criticize the GOP without eventually going back and whacking on the Democratic Party more. I’ll say it again: Even if you don’t like the Democratic Party, there IS a difference between “bad” and “worse.” Allowing the Nazis to win because you think the Weimar Republic is ineffective isn’t a good long-term (OR short-term) strategy.
Should the trump team NOT get a severe shellacking in this election one can only imagine what the trump team will think they can get away with. You worry about a tipping point with the climate.. give trump another two years.. and democracy, as you knew it.. will be history.
Only people that care about others, that are concerned for the general welfare, and are fair minded vote for Democrats. The rest are narcissistic egoists that only care for themselves. The choice is yours.
The perfect is the enemy of the good. I will accept anything at this point to at least slow the GOP and Trump down. Also we need investigations to continue. We can’t opt out and leave our fate the billionaire fascists like Kochs and Adelson.
Well Ted, would you prefer the Silly Party, the Very Silly Party, the Greens, the Libertarians, Peace & Freedom? We are not going to get exactly what we want, but we can get set back on the right track. Unfortunately the ways things are we have just two choices. Sitting out is NOT an option.
This toon was needed in the lead-up to Democratic primaries. Florida and Georgia both selected good candidates, at least in the gubernatorial races, as opposed to the usual corporatists who scurry along in the wake of the violently crazy Republicans.
Yes, the toon is correct. And I’m still voting straight Democratic; I think I have a better chance of having an impact when I protest their bad policies than when I try to reach a Republican.
One last point, historians consider that the Nazi party rise to power was facilitated heavily by the internecine battles of the other parties refusing to work together. Divide and conquer, divide and conquer…
Would we be here – so, so very far out in Right Field – if all the Jill Stein and Bernie or bust voters hadn’t wasted their vote? The truth is American politics is a binary choice – participate, or don’t. If you opt out, you will still be governed by the minority that chooses to participate.
I’m a registered Democrat. The Democratic Party frustrates me. I see them as too often ineffectual, too close to the corporations and the rich, too often too polite and eager to be bipartisan without getting anything in return.
I’ll be voting Democratic again. Why?
They offer the most hope that we will return to our American values and norms.
I have noticed when I don’t read the message of a candidate, I don’t know what their message it. But I don’t go on to pretend like that means there is no message.
Maybe so, Ted Rall, maybe so: but voting Dem this fall will at least be a first step toward stopping the Pretender, and without the first step, the next step is less likely to be taken. Take the first step: vote Democrat this fall.
What we need now is a little gridlock until both sides tone it down enough to start cooperating a little. For example, a Democrat controlled house and a Republican Senate with neither having a super majority. Can they get rid of the nuclear option? That door swings both ways. :-)
I’m just as far left as Rall is, and I bet I have more practical experience in actual left organizing, over many years. Including more jail time. I’ve demonstrated against Democrats and against Republicans. But in this election I don’t see the rationale behind staying home. Politics is a lot more than elections, but at some point you do have to win elections, and this is not a time when the two sides are comparable. Of course we have to push the Democrats to the left. But we can’t do that without electing Democrats.

Then don’t vote and let the Republicans continue to destroy democracy as it is. Good plan TED!

you do understand Ted that if the Democrats control the house, no bill can get to 45’s desk without their approval?

I will be voting straight Democratic this year as a single issue voter. That issue? The moral bankruptcy of Trump and the Republican Party.
