We are finally getting back to Polar Vortex and Devil, sprung on bail.

Is that the gleam of love in Devil’s eyes ?  Looks like the ones who called her not giving away too much are on the mark.

The question is what are his plans. He got out of being charged. His plan worked one of two ways. Polar Vortex intended to win either way and he did. Pauly is dead and now he can get on with phase 2. Good thing Pauly didn’t hit Devilia too hard or she would have been hospitalized or making funeral arrangements. With no Dr. West’s reagent around to bring her back.

Polar Vortex must have deep pockets to post Devil’s bail. That or she has deep debt now.

If Devil was granted immunity and is setting up Polar then Bravo to Mike and Joe for coming up with an interesting twist But if it’s simply a case of them yet again forgetting or not caring about any logical story movement then shame on them for enabling Dick to jump the shark under their watch!

Hmmmm… Something neat brewing!

Pitchblende has an “accident” and Vortex somehow reaps the benefits. Or Vortex somehow gets royalties via extortion.

Now let me get this straight, what Sam is holding in right hand in panel one is called a “newspaper”, while in panel two Polar Vortex has a “magazine” LOL

Okay, using the term “bequest” lets us know that Deacon and Miller are both (supposedly) deceased, but sounds a little awkward, since people don’t die at the same time. Suffice it to say, the trust was set up to allow for some future revival of Deacon and Miller’s works.

It’s sounding like my guess that the similar-looking Miller and Vortex being the same person was incorrect.

OK, finally the penny dropped. Mr Polar Vortex is in the Russian mob. Russia=very cold winters and cool summers. Which is of course why his AC is always blasting and he is always found very close to it

Polar Vortex is out of the Russian crime syndicates and on his own to do crimes.

As Avenger09 pointed out above, Devilia was told that “Kidnapping is a Federal offense and you’re an accessory.” (You’re, not your.) The very next day, she is sitting in booking, and after her brief talk with Lafayette, she asked to speak with a female cop. From this, I think we can infer that she originally clammed up while in the interrogation room, but fell for the trick of having Lafayette talk to her, which reinforced the severity of her situation. Now, as Avenger09 points out, she is calmly back with PV as if nothing had happened. Therein lies the problem that some of us see with Mike’s writing style – the readers are forced to infer large chunks of the narrative, because so much is not made clear. I have no problem engaging my brain to read a story; in fact, I enjoy thinking along with the writer. But it is still the writer’s responsibility to make clear what he intends. Look how many of our comments are all about “I think this happened, no I think the other has happened, maybe it’s X, maybe it’s Y” etc. etc. etc. And many of these gaps are never filled in; we just move on to something else. That’s what some of us are objecting to.

Sam seems pretty naive about the wages of cartooning; maybe Peter Pitchblende had a (not so) modest inheritance from granddaddy Miller—not every asset need have gone into the Revival Trust!

Meanwhile, Devil[ia] is out of custody and back in Piotr’s good graces (or so it seems). But what does Volkov have in mind for his Faithful Flunkie as he summons her to his chill-space?
