Mr. Lester, I’m sure the planet you live on has a wonderful view, but are you sure is the atmosphere is really breathable? Your perceptions seem remarkably altered.

The thriving economy is a residual effect of the Obama presidency. Just give Rump a few more months Lester, he’ll ruin the economy, just as he’s ruining the environment, our government institutions and the rule of law. Patience. These things take time.

The person on the left still looks like that. The booming economy has done nothing for him except about $50 a month.

Most economists think the consumer sentiment is a leading indicator not a stable lagging indicator.

Once wages catch up, everyone will be sharing in the rising economy, with some caveats.

Apparently Mike missed all the recent reports of more and more American families working multiple jobs just to make ends meet. This does drive down the employment numbers but illustrates a move to wage slavery. Next we’ll see the return of the company store to further enslave us. Heartless a$$h@le Republicans. http://www.businessinsider.com/more-americans-working-more-than-one-job-to-make-ends-meet-2017-8

Apparently this is for all of us whose integrity can be bought and sold. The “I only care about an ethical government when I’m poor. Once it starts working for me, let’s Trump it up!” folks.

Mr. Lester, I’m not the guy in the cartoon, my financial situation hasn’t changed a bit since the 20th day of January, 2017. But even if I were making twice what I make now, ten times, it wouldn’t change how I feel about Mr. Trump.

One man, not Trump, not Obama, not a Clinton or a Bush ‘fixes’ things. No one man can “Make America Great Again”.

If you think our economy is better solely due to Mr. Trump you’re a fool.

If you can forgive him his perversions, his crimes, his piggishness, his misogynistic, racist ways, simply because you’re making more money, you’re not only a fool, you’re a whore.

“We are told that we must not let the brutality of German political policy divert our attention from the German financial program. It is revolutionary and it is successful. If we will look behind the dictatorship we may possibly find clues to the nature of our own recent financial ills, indicating what has been wrong and what can be done to strengthen economic democracy now and in the future.”

“The men who built this German system are called men of unquestioned genius. It is becoming clear that Germany’s internal financial program is removing the limitations of her financial environment on rates of productive activity."

Of course, there is nothing new about Hitler’s financial operation. It is merely the adoption by Hitler of the spending and borrowing tactics of his predecessors, whom he so roundly denounced. Hitler was doing little more than Mussolini was doing, than the republicans and Social Democrats did before him in Germany, and what the old Italian and German Ministers did before the last war.

John T. Flynn (1944) As We Go Marching, quoting “The German Financial Revolution,” by Dal Hitchcock

There is a difference between a service industry job and a "good " job. One pays very little and produces no durable goods and the other pays a fair wage and builds an economy. Mike seems to think they are one and the same.

When 50% of Americans have less than one CEO, that is not a booming economy. When the American tax payers subsidize Walmart to the tune of millions because their workers don’t make a living wage, that is not a booming economy. Mr. Lester needs to tune in to RT or The Young Turks if he wants to know what is really happening in America. Republicans moan and republicans bitch “our rich are to poor and our poor are too

THIS ‘booming economy’ comes with a deficit explosion, even worse wealth inequality, failure to invest in the nation’s infrastructure and schools, environmental devastation, trade wars with the rest of the world.

A showcase of Trump Disciple analysis skills.

Dag, at the same time cost of goods increases x2 (or more). Can you see a problem? (hint- person A is spending more of their income on essentials than person B. What person A can save and invest is still nil while person B is thriving in the economy and cannot understand person A’s complaint, isn’t person A making more money?

@DagNabbit: You may want to revise your numbers. Income for Person B has gone up but not for Person A and guess what? That’s right, the cost of groceries has gone up pushing Person A even further back. I watched a woman at the grocer several months ago have an emotional breakdown in checkout because, like most of us she buys the same things week in and week out and found she could no longer afford the same groceries. I picked up the balance for her and helped her out to her car. What would you have done? Would you have offered to help or just considered her a loser headed to the dustbin of life?

For the middle quintile (which would include the folks making $50,000), there was a net reduction in real household income of 8% between 2000 and 2012Meanwhile rents for that group grew by 7%Healthcare went up by 21%childcare went up by 24%

When you make half as much as the middle quintile, those increases are going to be much worse.

Back in the golden days of yore (pre-trump) NPR had a great story on unemployment numbers.

It seems that they’ve been calculated the same way for decades, and the way doesn’t actually reflect reality.

The Obama administration wanted to revise the calculation, but couldn’t because they were afraid (silly Democrats) that they’d be attacked for fudging the numbers. So, they (typical Democrats) let the status quo slide. And so we’re still using old formulas to calculate important data.

Meanwhile, Trump is busy doing his end zone dance and the game isn’t over. And he wasn’t the one to score the touchdown anyway.
