That was the only trouble playing baseball as a kid (aside from getting hurt every single time)… there were rarely enough guys (generic) to play a whole game.
I know the feeling. I grew up out in the country, nearest neighbor was 5 miles away. I didn’t have any imaginary friends, but did build alot of models, read a lot of books, fished the local creek a lot, and explored every forest and hillside within a 10 square mile radius.
Maybe they’re playing in a haunted ballpark! And yeah, I remember what it was like, growing up in a neighborhood that had virtually no other kids. Oh, I did have friends in school, and sometimes I’d invite them over to my house to hang out, or vice-versa. And of course I had my brother, but when we were kids we were often fighting and picking on each other and stuff, so that doesn’t really count.

Sign the kid up for t-ball. That will really make him hate the game.

Even if more kids were around, I highly doubt they would want to play with Calvin anyway.

There are more kids your age in the neighborhood, Calvin. They’ve figured out how to avoid you.

Just borrow some ghosts from “Field of Dreams.” But how would you like going up to bat against Smoky Joe Wood?
