Holly: Jordan?
Jordan: What's up, Holly?
Holly: My mom wants you to come over for dinner.
Jordan: Why?
Holly: She has this RULE that if I want to have a BOYFRIEND, he has to meet the FAMILY.
Jordan: So...who's your boyfriend?
Hmmm…maybe Jordan thinks she just wants to use him as a “mask” for her true boyfriend who wouldn’t be acceptable to her mom? Hopefully, that is the case, Otherwise, OUCH!
Maybe Jordan is like that Beiber kid that my young god daughter thinks is “hot.” I honestly thought it was a girls voice when she first played me the song! LOL!
Yes, it takes guts. I remember the “blush” of a crush. But, hasn’t mom been the one to take things to the extreme instead of Holly – inviting him for dinner instead of letting Holly bring him home after school and say to everyone, “Hi, this is my friend Jordan”? Or am I in the dark ages?
I’ve been wondering during this whole story arc if Jordan was even thinking about “dating”. And I agree that Val was taking it to an inappropriate extreme for a middle school crush.
@somebody short, Good comment!
@sillystuff, Good suggestion!
Ouch, that’s gotta hurt…but hold your head high, Holly. The first mistake in all of this is Holly assuming that Jordan was her boyfriend. The second was Val, her mother, even encouraging her to have a boyfriend. Seriously, what’s the big rush to start pairing off into couples? Finish middle/high school even some college if you can, before you go that route. I mean aren’t there other things you could be doing?
Not that I believe my own theory, but maybe Jordan is just stroking his own ego, forcing Holly to actually say that she considers him to be her boyfriend?
Oh, dear. If he’s trying to be funny, that is a lousy sense of humor. If he’s being serious, he’s got to be blind. In either case, I’m with those who think Holly can do better!
Ha! I knew it! Boy, I NEVER had the guts to do that…well…wait a minute I did do SOMETHING like that…but he was ACTING like he was my boyfriend! Gee, I shoulda followed Segullah’s rule!

How was he supposed to know that meeting a girl at the mall ONCE made him her boyfriend??? Relationships are so complicated at that age.

If he can’t connect the dots, then what a moron. And true, he does look like a girl.
I teach kids this age, angst and heartache come with the territory.

I hope the next sentence he says is “Just kidding, I would love to come to dinner at your house.”

Apparently Jordan doesn’t consider Holly as a girlfriend. I guess Holly jumped to wrong conclusion.

At least she asked him. That takes an amazing amount of guts at that age. There’s hope for the girl yet!

Middle school is too young to “date.” And 10 pm is very liberal curfew, especially on school nights.

This is why I only admitted that I consider him my BF last week when he called and asked me- and we’re in our 70s, but it’s still what we want.
