Is this Sluggo’s first encounter with a “floozie” (or is it ‘floozy’)?
If so, I can’t tell if it smartened him up, or left him as vulnerable as ever.
Panel four shows me a Sluggo in a rather astonished, startled, or perhaps even rattled posture, even though the young lady took only half of Sluggo’s offering of cash.
The 3 by 3 patterns are interesting throughout the strip in all four panels.
For example, three questions in the first three panels; three bushes, three exhaust plumes, three windows in the trailer, and a three-decker building in panel four, etc.
Bushmiller seems to draw most girls like that of Nancy’s two longtime BFFs: Janie and Irma. This girl’s a prettier version of them both. And like a very familiar celebrity.

that’s what happens a lot of times…you’re so smitten that you don’t bother to observe what is really going on!

Ah, 1950. When in Mexico City, a dime would buy you a kilo of uncut heroin.

Those were the days. You could stand in a moving trailer, and all the windows were glass-optional.

He should be glad that she only took his dime and didn’t stick around long enough for Nancy to hear what he said to her.
