BD often had a better grasp of reality than one would expect.

BD started off as the strip’s strawman conservative, but eventually evolved into the conservative side’s voice of reason more often than not.

It’s amazing that he held on as long as he did. He was 90.

“anyone who chants at crystals should be beaten senseless.”

    .

    Nah, they already are.

They’re harmless and a source of income to others.

    .

I was admiring some gravel in Century for its assorted colors and the son of the owner told me they shipped a 60 cubic yard truck to Orlando — some 455 miles — every week to sell to the crystal worshipers.

    .

Idiots deserve services too just as long as their money holds out.

They’re going to blow it somewhere anyway.

Replacing one dictator with another is no win for the Cuban people. It is just that the Mafia and the USA liked the first dictator.

Not everyone was involved in the Harmonic Convergence and many work to counter it. How is that working? All too well.

“Castro was a brutal tyrant. But the Americans were mostly angry because he displaced The Mob…and was Communist.”

    .

    We like most brutal tyrants?

We Americans like organized — or disorganized — crime?

Like most tyrants, like most Communist governments, he murdered anyone he thought stood in the way of his absolute power.

Some would excuse those abuses every time because they so love the concept of Communism despite its repeated reality of evil.

    “So where is it?”

    .

    Where is Century?

3 miles north of Bluff Springs, center of the known universe

    (known to me anyway)

    .

Most reasonable way to locate it.

Harmonic Convergence: I just looked it up. Despite the popular hype that it would bring peace and harmony, that’s not what was said. It was that in 1987, humanity was at a turning point. If on that day, enough (144,000 minimum) joined in meditation, then peace and harmony would begin. But if not, all the negatives would accelerate, war, hatred, etc.

So what do those who believe that Trudeau paints a misleadingly simplistic caricature of conservatives think of the fact that BD has been pretty much the most sensible regular character in the strip for the last couple of decades?

Never thought I’d agree with BD, but I share his contempt for anything New Age-y.
