Have pity on those who were twelve when “Tiptoe through the Tulips” was released

This has been noted before. Some say that The Golden Age of Science Fiction was the 1940s, some say the 1950s or 1960s, but most people finally agreed that The Golden Age of Science Fiction was 12.

Top Ten from the weekend I turned twelve features Paul McCartney, Andy Williams, Sammi Smith, the Partridge Family, Ike and Tina Turner, Marvin Gaye, Tom Jones, the Carpenters, Janis Joplin, and the Temptations.

    .

Not bad, really, but the concept works better for me when you make it age 16 instead of twelve.

As for “Next:”… Even (especially) when I was a kid, America had no innocence to lose.

Do people in their sixties talk about how great “My Mother the Car” was?

The idea is not whatever had mass popularity when you were twelve, but what YOU were enthused about when you were twelve. It works better if you were enthused about something (like science fiction) that didn’t HAVE mass popularity at the time, but even with popular music, the particular music that YOU loved at your “golden” age will probably never completely loses its zing for you.

“My Mother the Car” never had mass popularity. I think the golden age for it may have been four.

The “Golden Age” is whenever you were 12 years old. Get it?

What was hot when I was 12 years old back in 1985? Back To The Future. Well, that proves this theory right.

That is sure true! Everything was so clear and meaningful.I’m old, it was still 3 years before the Kennedy assassination. When that happened anyone over 12 grew up or lost their innocence.I would love to relive the years of MY childhood, we could go out in the morning/after school, feel safe, just had to be home before dark. Few children these days can have that freedom. And we had Mickey Mouse Club for a wonderful hour!I dislike Disney for years now. He may have always been bad, IDK.It is hard to imagine anyone 12 these days to have that innocence due to the internet.
