I read yesterday’s “Barn” t-car and got a chuckle thanks to you. Final minute? Hell, final play. No time for a PAT. De Windt cuts across the end zone like a bad reminder of the burrito buffet at El Raucho. Right you are Chip. I was previously asking who the brothers were who played line last season, Dory & Breck Darwin.
Hakeem finally gets some blocking from Pelwecki and the Darwin (Award) brothers and Milford speaks out a win. Nice to have Boary and Breck back for more fun. Heather gets her first win as Gil’s replacement.

Today, with a potential game saving sack right in front of him, the Oakwood player auditions for the Detroit Lions by dropping back into coverage. With plenty of time, Hakeem doesn’t set, throws off his back foot and wins the game. This is the Lions but with an actual win.P-2: A leaping catch? Pete’s shoulder pads are barely above a four foot fence; bringing new meaning to “short on talent”.P-3: After sneaking a peak at R&W’s story board, Moose can’t wait for the unfortunate injury in next weeks game so our Joe Kapp saga can finally begin. P-4:Heather’s getting hot just thinking about it.

Electric football – five minutes to set up a 30 second play, and the players didn’t do what you thought they were going to do in the first place. In today’s world of miniature electronics and bluetooth technology, you could probably program an entire play and all the players would adjust automatically.

Anyone remember “All Star Baseball”, which was essentially a poor man’s Strat0Matic? You put the paper disk for a player on the spinner and the probabilities would control the at bat. Joe Rudi always came through for me
Never knew about All Star, but I played a ton of APBA baseball in my youth. I tried some StratOMatic with a friend, but it just didn’t grab me like APBA. Nothing like rolling a 66!
OK, someone needs to mention that little hockey game with the metal players on the rods and you could flip the puck from one corner to the other behind the net. Because I’m pushing up against a deadline and I can’t be procrastinating all day.
…I think my hockey game was a Munro or Cadaco…had a monstrosity of a puck drop that mounted at center ice that we never used, goal lights that never really worked well but it did have the curved plastic pieces at the wings that you could just hammer and it would be directed on goal. Also, never used the magnetic or ball-bearing pucks, always the wooden one because it could fly. Original set had Montreal vs Toronto, bought a set of men that included the Black Hawks and the California Golden Seals among others…game was about circa 1967 or so
We just played ‘flip football’ on the field that came with the Tudor. If the football stopped on the goal line it was a touchdown. If it went all the way in the end zone the ‘defender’ of that end zone got to try the field goal. We used the goal posts that came with the game. .I grew up more ‘rural’ than most of “y’all” did. We had toy guns, backpacks, helmets etc. We’d hit the woods and play army all day. This was when COMBAT was on network TV..And of course i always had a LIONEL to set up and run when it was raining.
I had or played all the above-mentioned games. Did anyone ever figure out a way to make the passing thing work in a functional way in Electric Football? In All-Star Baseball (the one with the spinners), Ted Kluszewski and Eddie Mathews always seemed to be the heaviest hitters. In APBA, it was possible to order historical teams by mail. Imagine the excitement when the 1927 Yankees arrived.
