I like geometric books to color as you can color each individual “piece” or group them to make a bigger, more interesting “piece.”

It’s interesting to see those fads come and go. Remember stamping, scrap booking all that stuff? Now it’s coloring…always have to find new ways to part people with their money :). But I can see how retirees are the ones finding time to do it. I certainly can’t.

Teachers always want to make kids color within the lines.Bah ! Creativity stifflers !

I have a cousin, who was sent home from school ( kindergarten or 1st grade ), by a teacher, because my cousin refused to stay within the lines, when coloring..

Fortunately this attempt at forced conformity failed.Today she is a very successful fine artist and her oldest child just graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design.

you want a long time stress reliever, buy a paint by number kit the more complex the better, and go for it. Unlike coloring books, you can hang these on your walls.

Am I the only one who finds adult colouring books INCREASE my stress levels? I mean, even the design posted above by beviek. Look at the number of tiny spaces; I wouldn’t even know where to start! I even saw a colouring book with a fold-out map of the city of London that almost gave me a panic attack.

Saw some “Mandalas” on my Smartphone ages ago and downloaded one.Unfortunately, I uninstalled it almost straight away because those patterns and colours were hurting my eyes. Plus, It was boring. So, Mandalas. Nope. Not for me.xxx

I think part of a coloring book’s appeal is the fact that it is supposed to be a mindless, thought-free, stress-free pastime. There’s a time when you want to be creative, and times when you want to do something that’s productive (unlike TV watching) but doesn’t require too much thought, like beading, knitting and/or coloring.

It’s funny – I can very clearly remember the first time I actually colored inside the lines. It was a Dagwood coloring book, and I was in my grandmother’s den. Hadn’t thought of that in years. Thanks, folks.

Anybody can color INSIDE the lines. The hard part is to ALWAYS color outside the lines.
