    Yes. The Camera Obscura. For things you cannot view directly, it is a very useful tool. Great for eclipses, for instance. The convex mirror is similarly useful. I watched an eclipse projected on the side of a building using the mirror from a discarded four inch reflector once.But a darkened room with a single pin-hole is perfect for watching things happening where the daylight is too strong to endure. Sure, things are projected backwards and upside down, but one gets used to it.

    @BlueRobin

    I think a lot of it is “confirmation bias.”

    We look for proof of what we already think is true.

    If you think that someone is a lying, corrupt politician, you will seek out and find solace in only those stories that back up your belief.

    It’s not so much a thrill as it is an “I told you so.”

    Unfortunately, presenting them with facts generally just confuses such people. They cannot understand how the “truth” of what they know can exist with the Truth about someone. That’s called “cognitive dissonance,” or “living in a bubble.”

    You realize you could flip it the other way and say the same about Clinton supporters buying her lies…or anyone who believes there’s such a thing as an honest politician, regardless of party affiliation.

    For 30 somthing years the GOP has been saying that Hillary Clinton is a criminal mastermind, and they STILL can’t find anything to convict her on.So either they’re wrong, totally incompetent, or she IS the Supervillain we need to run things.

    Conservative pundit Michael Gerson (one of a large parade of conservative—note well!—who have contempt for Trump):In [Clinton’s] speech, she put her finger on the most frightening element of Trump’s appeal: “Our founders fought a revolution and wrote a Constitution so America would never be a nation where one person had all the power.” It is fair to say that the founders would have held the main thesis of Trump’s candidacy — the promise of a man on horseback to save a frightened and supine nation — in utter contempt. It also says something that one of the strongest attacks on the Republican nominee is the defense of self-government.

    This is an extraordinary political moment. Any reasonable Republican presidential contender other than Trump probably would be beating Clinton handily. Any reasonable Democratic contender other than Clinton probably would be beating Trump handily. The parties, in their wisdom, have chosen the untrusted against the unstable, the uninspiring against the unfit. Take your pick, and take your chances. -—————————————————————————When we remember that Trump is a coward who faked an injury to get out of the draft, that whole “man on horseback” thing seems even sillier than it would otherwise be.

    So how much better off are we all now that Hillary has accumulated hundreds of millions in “charitable donations” while in the employ of the State Department?I believe my actual worth, income vs. cost of living, has actually degraded since Obama inherited the Empire.

    One should think that the seriousness of the possibility of misdeeds should be enough to disqualify any persons involved.It is traditional for the accused, without evidence presented against them, to have to answer to all allegations before they may be considered qualified for public office.Well, unless they are on the right side of things, and in the correct party, of course, where there is no taint of evil or even the remote possibility of corruption and abuse of power.Scooter Libby must be punished because he is The Enemy, and Hillary must be left alone because she is one of the Good People, regardless of the actual nature of their deeds.An observation of facts does not require defense. The interpretation may be questionable, but since it is a theory, and based in factual observation, all I need is a consensus to make it indisputable. Isn’t that the scientific method now?

    Oh, I don’t know. Career criminal does fit the description, regardless of her ability to dodge convictions and charges. Skank REALLY fits if you go by the definition of a sleazy or unpleasant person. Of course I’d have used the word skank more as a verb because HRC is really into swindles and deception. I wouldn’t characterize Trump as an idiot though. Nobody gets into the billion dollar range of personal wealth by being an idiot; pushy, loudmouth, bully, egotistical, yeah, but not an idiot.

    Rest assured that as cattle, your futures are going to 100% successful when the lovely HRC is the one investing in them. Don’t forget that your future is at steak this November.Why take a chance in the Trump Casino when HRC guarantees a win when your futures are on the line?Who removed their post?Were they disappeared or are they yet otherwise visible?

    Coming back a bit late, but the Republicans have spent millions of tax payer dollars proving that Hillary is not a liar. She has been exonerated time and again, that they keep spending our tax money on this nonsense to keep the allusion that there is something there, but never come up with a shred of real proof. The Republicans are the ones that created this current culture of extreme partisan politics, with the we will vote no on everything the dark skinned man and his wife back. So, don’t be surprised when the Democratic party that was trying to build bridges finally gets their back up and stands up against fascist tyranny. We should feel fortunate that they haven’t caved in entirely and understand you can’t just take care of the top tenth of a percent. Especially, since they are doing just fine.So,frankly, if the Republicans want to continue their witch hunts, they can start paying for such with their own damn money (perhaps pay us back from their own pockets) and feed a family, pave a road, build a real bridge, buy a fire truck, fix a sewer, water line, sidewalk, etc… with mine.
