If I’m too old for law school, I’ll just have to win the lottery. Shoot me the winning numbers, Rat.

Try the Hurley Numbers, and don’t take any trans-Pacific flights.

So get rich by making others miserable. That’s what I partly understand. That, or ruin society’s way of life.

I question whether Rat is really playing with the train set.Every personal injury or malpractice law firm commercial should be required to play the sound of an ambulance siren in the background.

“Larry Lawyer”? I’d have thought his name was Steve Dallas.

That’s just a bit of an exaggeration, Rat. That’s not how it works in the real world of personal-injury litigation (as Stephan Pastis knows, having practiced law for many years before becoming a cartoonist). Shame on you for perpetrating an untrue stereotype!

Just in case someone’s not familiar with the quote:‘’The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers,‘’ —William Shakespeare ’’Henry VI,’’ Part II, act IV, Scene II

And just in case that’s not enough, the lawyer can run for office. Something on the order of 90% of all state and federal legislators are lawyers. I’ve always maintained that, as officers of the court, lawyers should be specifically forbidden from making the laws. Conflict of interests, interlocking directorate, fox making rules for the chickens, stuff like that…

I like the realistic analogy here that the lawyer gets all (or most) of the money even though the other guy was the reason for the suit.

It’s ironic that Stephan actually worked as a lawyer before becoming a successful cartoonist. Now he mocks them.

At first it looked like a setup for a rhyme strip: Track crack broke his back and got (someone) a stack of greenback.

But, Rat, since the town has shut down and all the people are jobless, Larry Lawyer’s money is useless—nothing but colored paper, since there is no place to spend it, nothing to spend it on, no one to perform any services….Is that ironic, or karma, or both?

Pastis is/was a lawyer, so he knows whereof he speaks. Fortunately today, lawyers are also getting the shaft, which, in the end, spares no one.
