And the cynical guy sees the glass and wonders ’Where’s the waitress? We need another round over here.’

The realist notes that the glass is both half full and half empty, and also not really made of glass.

And, of course, the medicine bottle needs to be large enough so that you can read the instructions, warnings, etc.

I’m not any of the above. The water is half way.

If the glass has nothing in it, and you add water to half its capacity, its half full. If the glass has its total capacity of water in it and you remove half the water, its half empty.

at least an ibuprofen is a little easier to swallow without the afore mentioned glass of water.

Not half full or half empty, the water is the wrong color.

    for a realist it’s just a half a glass, plain & simple

The glass is neither half full nor half empty. It is performing quite well, but not up to its full potential.

I don’t waste time comparing the size of the glass to the amount it contains. What interests me is the comparison between the amount it contains and the amount I desire.,

Hey, at least ibuprofen bottles tell you how many pills they contain (at the start) and what’s in each pill. If the only surprise is in the size of the pills, that’s not so bad.

Philosophers could use a lot more pragmatism and a lot less obfuscation.

A long time ago my then high school aged sister in law asked me how much was in a glass. The look of consternation when I said ‘about 4 ounces’ made me realize she was looking for ‘half-full’ or ‘half-empty’. She forgot she was asking an engineer. ☺

Nobody’s got the point; your pharmacy doesn’t want to stock numpty-flip sizes of bottle – two will probably do. My throat knows only too well that some pills are 6 or 10 times the size of others…

Love the last panel. Frazz, she’s not listening to you! It’s early, and it’s cold — she just wants to concentrate on her running. Hush, already!

…cos I never saw it! But that is weird. Two different pharmacists? Ran out of small bottles? Who knows?

The true pessimist knows it doesn’t matter how much is in the glass because it’s going to get spilled by the time it gets to him anyway.
