Planetariums are a good business except for the overheads.

Carl is a small man with a tiny mind.

After the little miss-understanding with the Crudlicks and their “front lawn enterprise” didn’t the Sheriff enact an ordinance outlawing front lawn enterprises?

……and Larry. Who has since moved over to East Ballard, where anything goes.

Does he have a Pink Floyd laser show after dark?

You might say that Carl is an Enterprising fellow.

Oooh, it’s beautiful…..

I hope the tickets are inexpensive so all the Ballard Elementary School classes can go there on field trips.

Oh… we can have Miriam Hinckley’s retirement party there, when she leaves after 42 years at the Ballard County Public Works and Auto Dealership.I wonder whether it would handle 63 guests….And a starry sky is a good backdrop for a wedding venue, too….

Oh dear…. you don’t suppose it will replace Lookout Ridge on Ballard Hill Road as a make out spot for teenagers, do you?

I’d hate to see it get crowded on Friday nights…. and besides, Sheriff MonkeyBlues can’t be everywhere at once.

Rose… you know that circus wasn’t Larry’s idea.

They just showed up in his Front yard one day…and there was nothing he could do because they had a proper permit, signed by the sheriff ….as I recall…..

Carl Crawford was always as moony, as some of the girls in high school. His head was forever in the clouds. And, after that run-in with Bubba Broadassky, he constantly was seeing stars.

He was forever setting his sights high, only to have his dreams tail off like a comet. His mercurial temperament also hindered his planetary progress, and he was eclipsed but others who possessed sunnier personalities, like classmates, Venus Mons and Mars Barrs.

This Byway & Planetarium, while diverting, is merely another example of the detours Chet’s orbit in life, has taken.
