Oh, what’s with the rules? That wouldn’t fly around here- you’ll often end up with standing room only when the visitors come calling at our local hospital.
I remember when my little brother was born, I had to wait until he came home from the hospital to see him. Fast forward to when I had my first daughter: my 8-year-old niece was the first person (who wasn’t either me, my husband, or hospital staff) to hold my daughter. Oh, and it was an emergency c-section.
Nowadays, there is a list at the desk, made up by the parents, of people who are allowed into the room right after the baby is born. Not kidding. Not that I would drive and pay the parking when the mother will be at home soon enough, since she is sent home about six hours later… It`s too bad that it happens that way. When my kids were born, in the later seventies, early eighties, we stayed in the hospital at least five days and four nights…with my last baby I stayed in the hospital a full week. My doctor said: `you need to conserve your energy now, and I`ll make you sick, just so you can have those extra two days here…`
In the Philippines they sometimes have a child that is not albino but is born looking as Caucasian as any Caucasian could but not have any Caucasian ancestry whatsoever. They call them Anak Araw or Sun Child.
