If this comic is over, then you know what that means: I look for a successor.

I don’t think it’s over. In her blog she wrote that she is going to do a few flashbacks to Phil and Val’s beginnings to catch up readers that haven’t been reading since 1998 when we first met Phil ;).

Oh, I would be one of those readers. I’ve only been reading this strip the past couple of years.

Well flashback announced. It is less than a shock if we know about it. Jan is one of the rare cartoonist never to have done so. We always had: the we loved august series. Easier to do but still running. In other words: Jan spoiled us.Enjoy your vacation, Jan!

I’m glad they’re doing a flashback. When I began reading Joan was already married to Wally but it was before she became pregnant with Lucy. I read about how they met but never saw the strips. I hope sometime Jan will do a flashback for them, and for now I’ll enjoy this flashback with Val and Phil.

Yea, I remember reading that. Hey, I just realized they didn’t have Susan the vet at their wedding. I hope it wasn’t any past jealousy on Val’s part.

I hope these flashbacks mean there won’t be a month of “gotta love August”.

According to her website, she’s just doing a short review of their relationship up to the present. It gives her a time to rest and refresh before continuing with new comics.

It can’t be over – August is almost here

And so we start the few weeks part first run/part flashback mode similar to what the final year of new episodes of For Better or For Worse back in 2007-2008 was.

The strip dates back to Nov. 1995 when you press the double back button on the calendar when she originally started the strip. It was drawn quite differently originally and became more cartoonish as time went on. You can flashback all the way to the beginning right up to present. I suspect the strip will become quite different after 20 years of single mom woes now that Val is married but still continue to focus on daily life. How long she continues on after this flashback run is anyone’s guess.

Pick up your own doo-doo before you complain about others …

I have only been reading a few years as well, so I am anxiously awaiting!

Be interesting but I hope do not sit outside with I assume champagne talking of the past. I do not have time to go through every strip.

I only discovered Stone Soup after discovering GoComics while looking up information on the Baldo comic strip. Comics Kingdom stopped allowing us to post, let alone read others’, comments, so I looked for some other comics webpage who still allows it.

A life sentence for speeding? Isn’t that a little harsh? :-P
