But I have used GPS once (thankful for it): got lost in the middle of nowhere in the middle of night and could not find one single gas station attendant that knew how to give directions.
What’s all this bad stuff about wolves?Has anyone ever been lied to by a wolf? Swindled? Sold a bad used car?No, of course not.Conclusive proof: People are a lot scarier than wolves.
Too low on fuel to keep going and collect the men, Rod went back to the Lynn Lake airport. The next day, with weather reports looking good, he set out again. I was not happy. The area he was flying over was without resources, without flight paths, and without strong radio signals. He was flying by map, compass, and the luck of the draw.
Spent a night in OKC once long ago had a reservation but was having trouble finding the hotel asked a gas station attendant he had no idea where it was. Three blocks down the road there it was. that close and he had no idea.

Carrying a Radio Beacon might have been a good idea in those days..Heck, it still might be unless they want to invest in a Satellite Phone..

Whenever someone says they have a great memory and can find anything, I figure I’d better have some kind of backup system in place…
