    It’s all just a figment of his imagination.

    A neighbor has a fig tree, by the way, and every yard within a square block seems to have had a seedling pop up thanks to the birds. Ours was producing its first few figs seven feet off the ground the same year it sprouted! (But it was taking out the fence and had to go.) They are happily, invasively prolific—Pig doesn’t need to plant more than the first one.
