Well, actually, “Rules are made to be broken,” but I’d hardly expect her Dad to suggest that to her.

Physics is just too involved with conservatism. It is always crushing the ideal by applying the good enough.

True enough Dad, but it’s much easier to be a thief than to break the laws of physics.

Laws are not broken, they get repealed. There is nothing wrong with the banking system that repealing restrictive laws will not fix..

Wiley, you’re always bashing bankers as a generality. Did some banker pee in your cornflakes? There are a ton of us community bankers out there who never broke the law, never got a million dollar bonus, and just work hard everyday just like you.

what? there are honest bankers out there? i’d never could have imagined such a thing. that old birds of a feather, and guilt by association meme.

lol. too bad. but no one said life was fair, just that the rich screw the poor , as is another law that has yet to be repealed. lol. facts always get in the way don’t they!

trouble with bankers is they want your trust but not the responsibility; thus, hypocrisy; why do they insist on taking the elevator from their lofty perches when it would be faster if they just went out the window; what’s a little gravity…..

I thought it was rules, which are kind of like laws, but without the police, court and jail involvement.

There are a lot of honest bankers, or should I say, former bankers. They all got taken by the ones now in power.

In this country, business, especially the successful ones, don’t find a need that needs to be filled……….they find something to sell, and make up some baloney about WHY there’s a need for it. that’s how gullible americans are..If you had seen the BBC News yesterday you would not restrict this to Americans. A Brit is about to go to jail for fraud, making millions selling fake “explosives detectors” to Iraq.

Not all banks are created equal- nor are all credit unions. I refuse to trust my money to either that charges me a monthly fee to tell me how much I have in my account yet pays next to nothing in interest on the money I am actually lending them. Remember when CD’s were at or close to double digit interest rates? I do. When credit card interest was fixed, not variable, and less than 6 or 7%? Government regulations allowed it to happen; but the bigger banks were the ones who made the changes to the rates, and the smaller ones followed when the big guys got away with it. It’s enough to make you cry- or buy a bigger mattress.

The banking industry is trying to change the paradigm about wealth. In the past, the more rare a commodity the more value was placed on it. Pure noble metals were hard to find and difficult to refine in the past. There for they were considered valuable and became the basis of monetary systems world wide. Today the banking industry doesn’t want scarcity to determine what wealth is. So the economists say that money is worth what we say it is. There for if we say this note is worth the number on it in goods. A one dollar bill will buy one dollar worth of whatever. Why do we need scarcity to determine value? It’s worth what we say it is (in theory) so we can increase wealth by printing more paper with bigger numbers thereby creating value out of nothing. That’s why counterfeiting is now a Federal Reserve monopoly. It has been said the government hates competition.
