there has been a coup alright! the ones who think their way is the only way and therefore everyone has to agree or else,, or else they will gerrymander. Democracy is no where near as creepy as 1 party dictatorships. Doe the Mayor have any power or is he just a figurehead?

No help there.I would think if I were encased in an isolated cell with nothing to read or do, I would not care one way of another what the (&*&% was going on. Sure, do what ever you want to do. We don’’t get to witness this though, which might be a release from boorrrddduummm. Maybe they get to eves drop???? Or watch the catch and torechure ( or however you spell it, damn red waveletts. )You would think that those leaving would warn those entering. What a lousy job!!!Blessed Be

Question is, if no-one knows who’s on the seats, how can anyone know for sure the bums have actually changed recently? Has someone figured out how to skip the rotation and become a “permanent member” on this security council?

Looks like even Endtown suffers from “Big Brother” syndrome. Anonymously, of course.

It’s not impossible to figure who’s on the council. Someone with time or resources (like Allgood) can investigate who’s missing from Endtown. The tricky part would be somehow colluding with any of them without the others knowing, or bribing or blackmailing all of them at once.Or a councilor without scruples could reveal his identity to grifters (like Allgood) and offer or take favors.

As I understand it, the council is secluded from the rest of Endtown during their active time. So if there is no warning ahead of duty, then there’s no way to influence the members. However the whole system is fishy. About democracy, this is a luxury you can’t afford in a war like state. That’s why in most countrys there is a martial law statute for emergencies.

I preferred it when politicians went to shoping malls and kissed babies.

I’m reminded of the Zimbardo Stanford prison experiment, and his 1969 deindividuation study. When people operate anonymously, it is easier for them to be cruel to those under their influence (but the Stanford prisoner study shows that simply being in a position of authority can bring out that cruelty). When participants in the 1969 study were given coats and hoods to conceal their identity, they were considerably more willing to administer longer and more intense electric shocks to the subject under their control. This council is a prime example of deindividuation, dispersal of authority, and anonymity, all three of which can lead to horrific outcomes (the 1971 Stanford study had to be terminated less than halfway through because subjects were having mental breakdowns).

If the council is cracking down on those types of “perverts”, then when will they go after those who “role play” with other consenting adults.. like, say, a fisherman, a worm, and a fish?

Well those statements by the council member eliminates Allee as a member. She was angry but not that angry. My guess sides with TSOJ. Allgood got into the system by some means figured out the pattern of choosing. I would imagine the Society has “code” words. Something that would only have meanings to them. That way no ones knows openly who the Society members are in public. Since the council members do not see each other or hear the voice non augmented one could use code sentences that only another Society member could interpret.Secret words in a Secret Society.

If they’re going to elect a mayor at least elect one who has the perception of being in control. Everyone in Endtown knows he’s not the one running things. I hope he steps up, but I seriously doubt that.

On the notion of picking out High Council members from the missing—-well, a lot of the Endtowners are always going out on bean hunts and expeditions and personal quests—-so just because they’re missing doesn’t mean they’re, er, “serving the people.” Albert and Gustine were gone for five months…

Well we do know a majority ordered it so out of 10 it had to be six. Some body rigged the election process. Randomly that would be very hard to achieve but it could have happened but again I think not.

hmm, I’m wondering where endtown takes place now, opinions like this wouldn’t fly, if for no other reason than the value of freedom of choice. Is it someplace in Europe or perhaps the deep south?

Hang on folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This is not about democrats or republicans. Its about the use of mutant products. All that was done is Linda took some milk and eggs with a box mix and made an old guy a cake. Think of this. Had he never died would this have happened. I believe his death triggered the actions. The milk came from Maude directly and the eggs were so to say “poached”.This has apparently angered a group that seems to have a large (or at least powerful) following. The Society for the Preservation of Humanity. Good words. Probably started out innocently enough keeping folks who have mutated into dangerous carnivores like Lions, Tigers, or Bears (Oh my) from following the instincts of those animals. Remember Wally was afraid of what he would do to Holly if he chased her like a cat chases a mouse. He was afraid he would hurt her. She patted his heart and said in here you are human (basically).Allgood along with a few have made the society into absolutely keeping humanity at all costs not just maintain it in your heart remembering you are human just in a tiger’s body. That would be why the Rats are minus tails. (Humans do not have tails) They are forcing their opinion on all of Endtown by seizing control forcing the issue. Allgood wants it ILLEGAL to use mutant products. That is step one. Next would be to segregate all mutants who make products from those who APPEAR more human. After that forced removal of the ability to make the product. Tail docking, ear trimming, fur removal, plastic surgery, BOTOX (Laugh now). Allgood sounds so much like a Topsider it is ridiculous. The Society started out like any other. Noble at the start. Corrupted over the years. Over time it has been corrupted into what Allgood has made it.So this is not political in any way. No republicans, democrats, tea party, libertarian, communist, maoists in any way.It is about rights and what makes a human a human. Politics does not enter into this.

we think we have a lack of transparency, but this is a total lack of transparency ! An ultimate “Trust Me” situation. The mayor seems less afraid and more disgusted. It is a terrible thing to know you can’t trust your government.something that we had thought could never happen here, in End Town..

THe blaming of political parties and the demonizing of them REALLY don’t belong here!! IF you feel you have to call s something derogatory names, then you don’t have any business commenting on something we have gone thru before, here, then go rant on the editorial comic groups. End town should be a safe place!!
