I have stronger opinions that you and I I’m going to … Drat! I deleted my Twitter account last month. [actually true, although I hadn’t used it in years].
“… whereupon he was taken away, locked up, wrote a book and was finally sent into tax exile, which is the usual fate reserved for those who are determined to make fools of themselves in public.” Douglas Adams had a lot of good ideas.
Will a Mars habitat really be that cut off from civilization? It’s only about 15 minutes away for radio waves. Seems like you’d have a slow connection to the internet, but you could still have one.
Because of the radiation, people will have to live underground on Mars. Ever notice how few people on Earth choose to live underground for any extended period of time? Even remote duty at places like Antarctica is not popular. So, why do people think they would enjoy living on Mars where simple things like, oh, you know, OXYGEN can be hard to come by? The ONLY advantage to living on Mars would be the lower gravity. Living underground on the Moon would provide all the “advantages” of living on Mars, with even lower gravity.

Pam is a better long term choice for NASA but Cliff is a better short term choice for society.

Can we volunteer someone else? I’ve got a list.

We already have that. It’s called a prison.

Sometimes you just need the right incentive at the right time.

If NASA could pay for a premium Comic Kingdom subcsription, you could spend the year reading reruns of Safe Havens.

But why would they take volunteers from the RU Stratus? They already have that experience, theoretically.

Sort of like the Biosphere II experiment. A year of isolation and a six month supply of air.
