When all else fails… REBOOT!

I guess Ctrl+Alt+Del didn’t work for Brad to react like this. He probably has a lot of junk files on his computer.

He must have found the Any Key

I had a day like that yesterday. Near thrown my phone into the wall two or three times trying to get it to do something easy.

“Why do men act so moronic over computer problems?” — Hmm, that’s quite a generalization, and has not been my experience at all. Different types of reactions and different degrees of calm vs. frustration from different people, of both genders. Knowledge and patience (or lack of either of these) are usually the main factors.

Are shut off everything from your power strip and restart it.

I can definitely relate!

Betcha Brad restarted it.

I see what the problem is. In the middle panel, you can see on the screen of Brad’s laptop that it has been infected with the dreaded “Greg 2 – 19” virus.

Just call up the service line. You’ll still be confused, but in about three different languages.

The happy dance is completely understandable.

Poor Toni. Her future looks doomed with poor decisions.

I’ve been having a problem with my system, but I don’t think I’ll call Brad for help.

Pretty accurate. But I know women who do the same.

I honestly don’t know any men who act this way. And I know a lot of men.

People act moronic over computer quirks because these machines are attached to us like an appendix, family members like children and pets. Critical for business and entertainment.

I don’t act that way around computers. Those things are expensive and precious. However, if it was a horribly out of date computer…

This is the silliest thing I’ve ever seen.

I try Ctrl-Alt-Del before a Reboot/Restart and lastly, Shutdown, wait a minute and then start up again.

whatever salad TJ is making, it looks delicious…. perhaps a quick marinated salad with canned beans and chopped vegetables.

Lately, I’ve been busy and have 5 computers going doing different things. I haven’t had any difficulties I couldn’t handle, yet!! I built a couple of them also.

I worked with PCs, and now they drive me crazy. They keep changing the way things are done when they worked just fine before. More and more frequently.

“This update include 300 more options, 299 of which you have no use for! But we have buried the one you use so you can’t find it!”

Men? Are you kidding?

If I’m ever on life support, unplug and plug me back in.

First thing I do when I encounter an issue like that is reboot it, be it my phone or my computer.

Toni; “Men act moronic over computer problems”? I’ve seen women do the same, maybe not as dramatic as Brad, but still. And, TJ, way to go, in defending your gender.

I have always believed that computers are the work of the Devil. What, haven’t you seen someone at a computer keyboard taking the Lord’s name in vain? All the time.

With my ex-girlfriend, the roles were reversed. She’d go into her screaming mode whenever she’d get stumped by a step she didn’t understand.

Are those food crumbs falling out of the laptop?? Someone tell Brad it’s never good to shake electronics!

Are there even any wires in that thing?

Hard to believe that Toni finds any of that attractive. She is smart not to have children with him.

Just replace Windows with a real OS and all will be much better . . .

Was going to make a wise crack about Brad, but no I’ve been teaching online since 2002 and still get very flummoxed by Windows software in general. I’m not a MAC user, from left-wing Critical Management perspectives, plus I can’t afford Apple (lol), but I can see his reaction. And yes, I hope Toni relents on having a family, I think eventually she will be drawn to be a mom, but one reason is that Brad will make a fantastic dad, kind, flexible firmly loving. Like, um, Frank. Luann and Brad are the one set of young adults who have clearly normal, loving parents.

I’m reminded of the running joke on the first two seasons of the UK sitcom The IT Crowd: Roy and Moss would answer the phones “Hello, IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again?”

Must be an HP. They really suck.

Between Friday’s installment and today’s, I feel the urge to reread “The Adventure of the Dancing Men”.

As long as he didn’t incur the BSOD.

I just fixed a computer for a friend. It would boot up slowly and not do anything except beat on the disk drive. I looked and it had a 2gb dual processor with Win10 and 3GB of ram hardware limited to 4gb. My fix was a factory reconditioned machine with Win11, current I7, and 16 gb of ram expandable to 32. Sorry. Your ice cream is going to melt before that model T crosses the quarter mile.

Looks like the Brad back in high school! LOL!

My wife has a relationship with computers that is similar to Don Quixote and windmills.

Ugh. I hate computer problems. Maybe that’s because I spent 25 years fixing computer problems.

It’s the first thing you try, man. Seriously, if it isn’t, then I just have no respect for you.

I’m a computer consultant. When my long-term clients call me for help, the first thing they say is “I already turned it off and turned it back on and it didn’t fix it!” I have them trained LOL. The power switch is your friend.

Looks like Brad has reached that age where you forget how to do anything on a computer.

I teach a class via Zoom, and in addition to our subject matter we dip into the subject of technology — we’re all using it, living with it and surrounded by it, after all. And I always end up telling them that turning it on and off is number one on the tech support Hit Parade.

I’m starting to believe that TJ is androgynous, or in the closet.

Oh, it isn’t just men. I get like this about my computer too.

Toni has the patience of a angel. Having to babysit Shannon a lot has probably helped her.
