I like Rat’s statement in the last panel because there are two ways to interpret it.

Am I the only one imagining right now Edna Mode from Disney/Pixar’s “The Incredibles”?

There’s a reason why Edna Mode insisted on NO CAPES!(You may now imagine whirling spokes and a…)

Had not seen Jeff in a while – thought the continuity of the story line saying he had testicular cancer and only 6 months to live was followed through – what was I think – continuity? Steph?

If the cape gets caught in a wheel, the cyclist will be a step below the motorist.

I’m hearing Edna Mode and saying “No capes, capes drag, capes get caught in spokes and chains….”

@Nabuquduriuzhur -That’s why they wear them tight shorts and no visible socks… They don’t get caught in the sprockets.

The only thing super about Jef the Cyclist is his ego. Rat is being unusually generous in panel 3, merely urging Jef to fly; a more pro-actvie approach may be called for here!

To drive you need to pass a driving test to show you know the traffic laws. And you pay a gasoline tax to pay for the roads.

To cycle you don’t do either. Instead you blow through stop signs, ride on the sidewalk when “convenient”, and pedal slowly along narrow winding roads so the cars stuck behind you burn more gasoline. And you feel “superior” about it.

With any luck, the cape will get caught in a wheel and… well, that’ll be that for ol’ Jef

I was wondering when Jef would show up again. About a month or two ago, Frazz made a joke about how he broke his New Year’s Resolution by laughing at a Pearls’ comic. Publishing delays bring us this “feud” at the speed of Pony Express. But, I love it!

    1) Jef a hero? A hero (a/ka/ sub, a/k/a hoagie, a/ka/ grinder) is nothing but a sandwich!

    2) On 2nd thought, Jef IS a sandwich…balony with a thick slice of ham!!

    1. Thru gas taxes drivers pay more for roads than cyclists — it’s about the only tax which isn’t being cut. Bikes have the right to the roads, but only in very restricted ways (like in bike lanes).2. Yes, both as a pedestrian and a driver. Hit the brakes to avoid hitting a Jef, spill the coffee. And having to dodge the Jefs when crossing a street legally.3. Illegal doesn’t stop them (just like stop signs don’t apply to them). And they do get “miffed” if you don’t get out of their way on the sidewalk. Again, personal experience.4. Yes, you do burn more gas if you’re running the car twice as long to get where you’re going. 45 is a very good speed for gas mileage, 25 is not (and 15-20 behind a cyclist is worse). That’s why there’s a difference between city and highway mpg.

Jeff, admittedly YOUR below a cyclist and just barely on par with a couch potato. Though if you stop trying so hard the couch potato will leave you in the dust once more.
