Aw Charlie, just tell him that he doesn’t need to belong to a club to be your champion!
“You don’t have to be a star, daddy, to be in my show.”
Lucy once asked Schroeder of Beethoven, “He never got to be club champion. Did he? Did he?”
Isn’t there a barber’s club, CB? Or he didn’t make the cut? :D
When I was a kid, the local barber charged $2 for a man’s haircut, and $0.50 for a kid’s hair cut. Even if he were able to get in 3-4 hair cuts in an hour, that doesn’t add up to much, considering he had to pay for rent & supplies. Nevertheless, the in joke was to call the barber shop a ‘Clip Joint’ … CB’s dad likely couldn’t afford to play golf.
I still miss Paul Harvey’s Father’s Day poem.
I’m sure you made your dad’s day, CB. He’ll treasure that all his life.
Maybe, to paraphrase Groucho Marx, he doesn’t want to belong to any club that would have him as a member.
I always thought that my dad was a common, ordinary man. Then when I grew up, I found out how uncommon and extraordinary common, ordinary men can be. He set the bar high for me.
What kind of club could Chuck’s dad belong to?
lol so true
If dads need lots of encouragement why is that my wife frequently tells people, including our kids, to NOT encourage me? :P
has anybody ever seen Mr. Brown? :o]
You dad may not have wanted to be part of any club that would have had him as a member. The grass is not always greener on the other side. I’ll stop with the cliches now.
Sounds like a good Father’s Day card for my son-in-law
Yeah – sometimes we do.
That was then – this is now. Just bash him or make him out to be the only clueless one in the family and you got yourself a modern sitcom.
I was almost a club champion once. Unfortunately, my partner bid spades.
He’s not a leader in “The Hair Club For Men”? ; )
i need to talk to your dad
My regard for clubs reflects Groucho’s.
Ever stop to think that maybe he’s trying to tell you something is not nearly as important as you think it is?
You’re a good man, Charlie Brown. I know your father is proud of you!
