My mother taught me a cute joke that goes along the line of starting to tell a romantic story of a boy & girl separated by some circumstance. You take the person’s hand at some point (to drive the romantic aspect of the story home), then ask, “How do they get together?” The recipient of the joke will usually say, “I don’t know.” The punchline is, “I don’t know either…but it’s nice holding your hand.”
