I don’t know. This explanation makes as much sense as the standard stuff that used to be included in civics texts. (As far as I can tell, since there are few national standard tests for civics classes the way there are for math and science classes, today’s public school kids may not even have civics classes…)

Which reminds me. Can’t we get Joe back on a news channel so that he can cover the presidential election next year? Not Fox – he’d be competing with Roland Hedley…

So it really is toxic, scary, useless and incomprehensible. That’s such a relief. I thought I was just misinformed.

Yes, our democratic republic has a rather messy electoral process, but it is only because we make it so. it will take a couple of generations to undo the mess, but I don’t know if there is enough road left between us and the abyss to turn the car around.

Another well drawn and sharply written cartoon. This is why I come back again and again.

My teachers would have moved me into the “creative writing” class and turned me loose. In addition my parents wouldn’t put up with teachers telling them what they can and can’t teach me.

Seems straight forward. What is the teacher’s problem? Can’t imagine what a ’conference would be needed.

It is annoying how some of those prospective candidates seem to neglect cleaning up after themselves.

It appears that the more toxic the sludge the more it is believed. What is toxic sludge to one group tends to be truth to another. The erosion of critical analysis and the proliferation of toxic sludge through the internet would make Goebbels drool with jealousy.Have fun with that folks.

Everyone do yourselves a favor and google Lincoln’s speech about a house divided. Yes, he was speaking about slavery, but put in todays perspective it’s still relevant. Political idolatry is rampant and there’s no rational discussion any more. It’s beyond sad what’s going on in this nation. Beyond sad.

Hmm, “HighPriestMikhal”, I graduated 53 years ago, and civics classes were mandatory curricula. Maybe that all pursuit of accurate information, called “knowledge”, is now “elective” may be the problem?

Let’s see – I started my Civics course about sixty-six years ago during my last year in junior high school. It was mandatory, and it taught us how the government was supposed to work, not how it did work. I found about that on my own, later.

I suspect that the purpose of the parent-teacher conference will be to criticize Joe, not Danae. He’s going to be a bit put off at Danae for blaming her take on politics on him.
