Nancy (the strip) has had a bit of an uneasy relationship with the pandemic. I don’t think masks have been needed in the same way they were in, say, Arlo and Janis or Luann or Betty, but it makes it a little weird when they’re needed for the joke.
Curiously, it would have been a fine joke even in non-COVID times.
Is this strip out of order? Was I supposed to just know to read the 2 Nancy panels fist, the 2 Grandma panels next, then the 2 double yawn panels, and lastly the masked panels?
So Nancy has a grandmother. Is this Fritzi’s mother? Do we have any idea who Nancy’s parents were? (And yeah, I’m too lazy right now to look it up online.)

Innovative use of panel layouts, perhaps not entirely successful. More differentiation between the gag and the pay off panels is needed.
