Who is she or him? Aunt Fritzy, where are you?
Frankly, I would have led with this one on Monday.
The gag is within spitting distance of Ernie Bushmiller’s writing.
Now work on the art a bit, OK? OK.
Why is Nancy’s skin pale green since the new artist took over? Is she joining the Munsters’ family?
Nancy: “I can’t believe this is the strip Guy used to do! I never had allergies or caught a cold!”
The gag does seem more in line with the original spirit of the strip, which is a good sign. I assume the person in the last panel is someone connected with a school. Artwork, yes, does need a bit of work.
the old artist is gone. get over that! different artist, different ideas! it’s still a very good strip!
Another day; another head. This one didn’t make a crack about cornbread, at least.
I just hope the teacher doesn’t make her mop up the floor. The other kids will laugh at her.
We all need to give the new version a chance. If the flesh color could be fixed, I think we’d all be more open minded.
How much do I hate this new Nancy? It’s horrendous!!! Much rather see the Guy reruns.
I’m still willing to stick it out, despite my comments on the first strip. I agree with several above commenters that today’s strip certainly has the Bushmiller spirit (at least as far as the gag is concerned) that many of us old-timers were looking for. I also agree that I would have led with this one; it would have made a decent bridge between the two styles. However, the artwork does, at this point, seem to have too much of that “Pearls Before Swine” over-simplicity that some of us get turned off by. But if the new artist wants to do it in that style, then fine; I’m willing at this point to bear with it. Again, I’m still in the middle; it’s too early to make a decision at this point.
I like her ’tude. Everyone should be grumpy once in a while!
It is a comic strip about someone called Nancy. The gag is not bad.
If I may interject a personal note, I am thrilled that we have not, so far, seen three rocks together or seen the words “three rocks” uttered in any form. I have seen no weeping over dead actors or musicians. Maybe the long nightmare is over.
It’s a new day, a new strip. Raining? Hey, it’s good for my lawn.
I’m sorry, but this is terrible. The artist/writer is phoning it in. I realize Gilchrist is a tough act to follow, but at least act like you enjoy producing the strip.
Just noticed this blog entry from last Friday: http://www.gocomics.com/news/all/4492/new-blog-1523036363
Getting tired of how much better this is now. Stop it, Olivia. My mind can’t process it!
said it yesterday I’ll say it again. We need more strips about God and that guy who played xylophone in Dolly Parton’s band at the Gran Oil Opry that one time, and rainbows and Aunts that wear real tight shirts and heaven’s to betsy you just know she got an open mind and when Nancy goes off to bed, well golleeeeeeee! hoo dog! I’m gonna go drive my pickup in circles until I get a buzz!
Great job OJ!
Another funny strip, Olivia. Thanks for a great first week. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s coming up.
Has Olivia Jaimes done any comic work previously?
I’m really liking the new work
PHONY ALERT! PHONY ALERT! That window is closed, and has glass in it!
The colorist, perhaps under direction of the cartonist, has chosen three week old pea soup to be the default color of interior walls.
This can easily be changed.
I do not like the computer generated font where every G is exactly like every other G.
This, of course, will never be changed unless a bit of variation can be programmed into the computer.
Every outline is exactly the same width without any variation.
Again, this will never change unless it can be programmed in.
Being a human being, instead of a preprogrammed computer, I might be able to change my opinion over time.
But think of this….
Could you ever imagine Pogo being done on a computer?
This strip now officially sucks. I started reading Nancy in the ‘50s and this is not her. Can’t even get the colors right. Sluggo and Nancy are a greenish Brown. WTF?
This is the mood for spring :/
