I doubt that Biden would just rename Trump’s facility. He’d be working on getting those kids out of there and reunited with their families, if possible.
Last night I saw a news story that Biden (or those working under his command) had already reunited more than 100 of the Trump-separated children with their parents.
So I would consider today’s Alcaraz cartoon to be unfair. It’s not like Biden can just snap his fingers and instantly undo everything Trump’s ICEmen have done. It could take months just to track down where all those children are.
Sod off. The difference between them is night and day. And they aren’t there to torture people into giving up their right to asylum and treat them as cruelly as possible.
1. the kids are not being raped by the guards. 2. The kids are no longer in cages, but in bunk beds. 3. The kids are receiving real healthcare. 4. One hundred six of the parents that DJT couldn’t find have been located and reunited with their parents. 5. A special commission is attempting to find the parents of the rest. So, what is the difference between Lalo and a republican flack?
Sorry Lalo, you’re off on this one. In fact, this cartoon is so unfair as to be practically Republican. Biden cannot simply undo things overnight, and he has already made great efforts to get kids reunited with their parents. He has worked to improve the conditions under which they now live. But you can’t create something out of nothing. It’s fair to hold his feet to the fire — as we’ve been doing with countless issues from the very beginning. Considering that he got NO ACCESS to government briefings or transition materials until the very last minute, I’d say he’s doing more than most could in the same situation.
Two differences: first of all Trump took the kids away from their parents, no matter how young. Biden’s kids are ones who arrived on their own. Secondly: (I might be wrong here but I doubt it) … like under Obama – kids who arrived had to be put somewhere until a proper place was found for them. They were not allowed to leave because they needed to be monitored and helped – not lost in the streets of some big city to drug addiction and prostitution. In other words, the Biden/Obama approach is to find a way to help these kids, whereas the Trump approach was to cynically use them as examples to stop more immigrants from trying to get in. As such, the Biden/Obama solution is to try and make the best of a bad situation – whereas Trump’s was to make a bad situation worse.
Unaccompanied children are not being put in cages. They are provided beds, have access to recreational activities, etc. The Biden administration, by being denied the transition process, had to start from scratch to develop a viable process to intake and process these children so that they are safe.

The facility set up by the Biden administration is under the control of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, not ICE, and is only for unaccompanied minors. The goal is to place them with family members, if possible, and not to set them loose without support on the streets to become victims of whoever is out there.
Mr. Alcaraz, Devil’s choice here. Is it better for children to be detained in a jail cell or internment center? Sometimes there is no good solution—so we have to look to intent—and the results of that intent. Reunion.
Biden is probably following the Obama model of using chain link fencing to separate some immigrant children. Some children come to the US unaccompanied and some come with their parents, and still others come with unrelated adults. The kids that come with their parents were, during Obama/Biden, kept together. All the others were separated for their own safety. Biden has reversed the Trump policy of sequestering all the kids, many from their parents, and Joe is endeavoring to reunite the separated kids with their parents. So, the toon, unfortunately from Lalo whom I have begun to respect, is misleading.
You all know that this policy was actually established under Obama and the facility that has been shown on the news was ordered by and built under the obama administration. And that a lot of photos showing children behind a chain link fence were actually staged photos by activists using a six foot section of fence. Why do you think there are only close ups of the children and the distance shots only show adult men?
What do you do with them, until you find their parents, or a place for them to stay. Do you feed them and give them a place to sleep, or just put them out on the street?
It is a shelter to get the kids off the streets, give them a place to sleep and meals until they can be united with parents or a relative, also give them medical treatment is they need it.
oh right Bidens treatment of children at the border is the same as tRUMPs, hey miss lola one guy ripped children from there mothers arms and the other is uniting them again
Forgot a panel. Obama’s panel, as it was his administration that really started the separating the families. Until then, it was only men detained separately and women and children housed together in contract hotels.

Gotta admit I’m disappointed. Not at all sure what the optimum solution is though: The kids are getting in solo, so what DO you do with them?
