Re: “New Orleans Market” on the blog.

That poster is pretty much the definition of “sold down the river,” a fate which not only meant the break-up of a family but also being sent to live and work in a climate and region that pretty much guaranteed slaves a shorter life-span.

“Out there beyond that fence every living thing that crawls, flies, or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat your eyes for jujubes.” So you had better hide them in your prosthetic hand.

    re: blog

I’m always amazed by the impact of the graphic design and poster art (syphilis) from the period when that was an important method of communication. Contrast the impact of the syphilis posters with the advertising for the March of Dimes, where they used a variety of media and used a lot of photography in the graphics and posters, without so much thought to design.

Off hand, I’d say there’s something wrong with the prosthetic.

RE: Blog – Eddie Cantor was the inspiration for Barney Google – that strip is titled Snuffy Smith now and Barney Google seldom makes an appearance … back in the day, Barney Google was known as the man with the googlie googlie eyes and is said to be the inspiration for the name of the search engine “GOOGLE” … 8-)

I do not agree with your love of jujubes, but I’ll defend to the death your right to hide them in a prosthetic hand.I’m sure that’s an actual Voltaire quote.

It’s interesting that so much was spent on advice not to catch venereal disease when so much was also spent on infecting Afro-Americans with sexually transmitted diseases.

‘Cause T-post time was postnormal, I posted my post last night, post normal post-time but pre-T-time. See?And I still love JuJuBes, find them hard to find, and now wonder if it’s because they’re all hidden in prosthetics?

Sorry I am not link-legit, but if you cut and paste the above address and scroll down past the language variation list ( like above ) you will find some fun sound links.I am partial to the Southern Leopard Frog cause it sounds like it’s laughing.Maybe Teresa could add a sound button to the strip with this frog’s voice on it so that when unsuspecting’s stumble through they could press the button to satisfy their punch line urge.

Once again, for Monday, 3 IX 12, at 1:30 AM CDT, I had to turn to FB “Lame Announcements & Updates” to see the new FA, not yet posted on the FA page.I once had a pet turtle, when I was a very, very wee lad. He wasn’t very curious. He died.
