Panda looks very evil and twisted, quite the contrast to his usual demeanor. And Tracy’s beak looks a little bit smaller today, a smaller target… :-)

Though we’re led to believe Panda fired, I’m betting he’s the one that’s been shot. The question is, who did it? Leonard, in another example of his loyalty? .Perhaps Blaze? If Panda dies Tracy and company may believe that Panda was Mr Crime. If that happens, no one will come looking for the real Mr Crime and Davey and Blaze can quietly work on putting the pieces of the organization back together.

Man I hope DT didn’t get poped, even if he did …..

Looks/sounds to me as though Panda fired two rounds; but that evil sneer in panel 3 does look like the contorted face of someone who has himself been shot. And although the dialogue has been leading us to believe Panda was shooting at Tracy, we still don’t know that for a fact. For the third time, I say I hope he hasn’t popped Blaze and Davey, whether by mistake or on purpose!

I’m thinking that Panda got off one shot, pumped another round in the chamber, but the second BAM is him getting plugged!

And we have to wait another day (or more ) to find out who shot who. I’m worried for Tracy!

The suspense is unbearable…I hope it lasts!

I have to agree with others on the art. It’s been really good the past week or so. They’ve done a nice job of updating the old-square-jawed Tracy without doing away with him.

I more worried about Tess to tell the truth.

But the new team wouldn’t be so bold as to…

maybe the shots werent fired by Panda at all but by one of the SWAT members? in panel two panda had the gun (and his hand) at eye level when he aimed, in panel three neither the gun nor his hand were at eye level leading me to believe that he dropped them from that angle. why do that if he was waiting for tracy to turn the corner? wouldnt it be GREAT if Junior showed up to help the SWAT team knowing that BOTH his mother and father were involved in this raid, and took panda out himself? THAT would be classic tracy storytelling right there!

btw, mr kleen is gonna have hsi hands full trying to get these goons off the hook! better for him to just “wash his hands” (pun intended) of the whole mess and walk away i would think

‘Course, since Panda is firing right handed, one might wonder why he’s aiming with his LEFT eye. Not that this is horribly relevant with a short-barrelled scattergun, mind. ;-D Visually, of course, it looks GREAT! :)

That is definitely the sound of a shotgun shell being chambered in a pump shotgun. No one but the SWATs and Panda have them. I’m hoping that it was fired by a SWAT. And Panda just got on my list for that tacky reference to Tracy’s schnozz. That’s a personal attack! Not PC.

Lot’s of possibilities in the speculative comments thus far this morning. I noticed that “Kl-Chit” and thought it must be from the shotgun, but then a few folks remembered that the SWAT team also has weapons which would make that sound. Tracy’s comment about taking a “last look around” sounds like he believes all the shooting is over with, and there is nobody left to worry about. But, wouldn’t Leonard have told the police about Panda? Wouldn’t Tracy be wondering where Panda was at a time like this, and be on his guard?Tess is looking very pretty this morning, by the way.

I wonder if Tracy is going to need a new hat again? ;)

Joe, Mike and the rest of their team not only saved the Dick Tracy strip … they improved on the original. -There … I’ve said it.

Hmmm… Panda is aiming with his left eye, but holding the trigger group with his right hand. That would make aiming the weapon rather awkward, I should think.

Okay, with a shotgun you point instead of aim. But still, even with a shotgun you look down the barrel in order to point.

Hope Tess didn’t walk into that one. I’d hate to see Tracy a widower.

I’ll toss in my uneducated guess, based on knowing next to nothing about firearms.

In panel 2 Panda has the weapon raised so he can look down the site. In panel 3 we change POV and were he still in the act of shooting the weapon would be front and center.

Sure, I’ve seen movies where a shot gun is fired from about waist high, but I’m betting with those who say Panda’s the one on the wrong end of the barrel.

My wild card – Teevo pulled the trigger in one last act of redemption before he meets his fate.

I see mumbles silhouette in the first frame, looks like mumbles gets hits 4 & 5 today, as tracy walks him through the house…..

It may be too cliched, but I suspect Mr Crime just got shot by his own lieutenant.

I’d say for greatest dramatic impact— it’s Blaze who gets shot. Leads to face-off/reveal ‘tween a greiving? Mr. Crime-lite & Panda. If it’s Mr. Crime-lite who gets shot, I don’t think the face-off ’tween Blaze & Panda would be as heightened. Blaze & Panda seem to be on the same wavelength…unless she suddenly/unexpectedly gets a yearning for the Mr. Crime crown?

Anyone else as buckshot is pretty random including Tess or Adonis. Don’t think there’s been enough friction ‘tween the Tracys re. Tess’ new careerpath to warrant a proper WHY? WHY? & further self-recriminations on Dick’s behalf. And it seems utterly disposable to bring Adonis back only to Groovy Grove deep-six him (although look what happened w/ the Mumbles Quartet).

…….I find this “last look around” comment perplexing, as well…….it’s not exactly like they were called to investigate a burglar alarm that was set off. Surely Leonard told them about the still unaccounted for Blaze – as well AS Panda….what is Tracy thinking? It seems a rare lapse of good judgement on his part here. Anyways, it’ll be fun to see who shot Panda…..there’s a ton of possibilities, and right – it could be even be Blaze and Davy!

Panda got off 2 rounds. Tomorrow we’ll see who the hapless figure in the smoke is that he cut in half. BTW, excellent artwork today. From L to R, it segues from iconic/heroic to gritty/realistic. Really quite nice!

Panda shot 2 rounds, but with all that smoke could he really see his target? Who did he hit? Davey? Blaze? Tracy?

The real question is, who walked into his sights?Davey (I hope)? Blaze? Fritz Ann? Johnny? Abner Kadaver?Teevo?(Hey, didn’t I say this yesterday?)
