Not any more, it isn’t. The Gray Lady is losing it’s behind and workers have learned their socialist pensions may not be there after all. Plus the fact that the paper has been caught out too many times recently with fraudulent articles by unscrupulous reporters (I won’t call them journalists) not fact-checked by lazy editors.

But there have been comics in the New York Times – graphic novels in the Sunday magazine section.

The NYT remains the best newspaper in the United States and possibly in the world. It’s quite true that Jayson Blair was a fraud and Judith Miller was coopted by the Bush administration into writing reports which were favorable to the Iraq war, but these remain individuals and not evidence of systemic failure. The paper’s editorial positions are left of center, but it makes a sincere effort to report the news honestly and objectively.

I believe the loss of newsroom and other staff due to declining advertising and circulation revenue at the NYT speaks for itself. And don’t mess with Guard Duck.

Comics must support their own, since the remnant newspaper industry, and notably the New York City Times, has no interest in doing so. I applaud Li’l Guard Duck’s action. Also, I admire his armory that actually includes a working flamethrower these days!

What’s the obsession so many people have with calling Fox News “Faux News?” They don’t lie any more often than any other news source. To be considered ‘truth,’ does everybody have to be completely liberal?

I used to read NYT, but no longer. The quality of the writing is declining. As a barometer, one can find more typos in the paper now. And if they aren’t catching the typos (or doing a spell check), one can imagine what is happening to the substance of the paper. And there is way to much fluff and sensational journalism. I have found the Wall Street Journal to be a much better paper.

The NYTimes “funny pages” are called the Editorial and Op-Ed pages. I laugh at how they can preach about what others should do from their tax-subisdized perch protected by a corporate/family trust fund that enables them to hide from estate taxes. A laugh a minute if you ask me.

Yay, the NY Times! When I’m up here, I get the Sunday Times from the Starbucks in Sheboygan (the only place I know of where you can get it in this county) and read on it all week. Articles are wide-ranging and informative.

Half naked? How about mostly naked? The Europeans seem to like that; even though the Brits don’t consider themselves European, naked women are a universally accepted selling point, it seems.

Amen, a newspaper without comics is like a TV without cartoons, like a pancake without chocolate-chips, a cake without frosting, Dr Who without Daleks, and window sill without plants, a house without cats, a week without Sunday…
