Florida is like that. When a ball is overthrown and goes into the woods, in a game of catch, sometimes it isn’t searched for, because some of the other things you may find in the brush will kill you. In Michigan I can jump in any swamp, bog, pond, lake, river, or spring and feel perfectly safe. Try going swimming in a lake in Florida….

After panel two, he should call Carl Hiaasen to see if he can hook him up with a guy goes by the name Chemo

I found out why people’s front yard fences were only about two feet tall in FL; kids can jump over, ’gators have a harder time of it, but can sprint faster on the flats…

Varnes: So you get two sports for the price of one – golf and gator wrestling.

OTOH, I can’t think of any way to make a sport out of swimming through murky water with water moccasins.

The alligator is probably saying to himself — I’ve got to hold still for just a few seconds longer. Oh no, I’m starting to sink. Need to hold steady.

I am pretty sure we are on opposite sides of the political spectrum but I respect your right to your opinions. Your comment today, however, has crossed the line and is tasteless and completely disrespectful. I do not find it in the least humorous. It is offensive. (And for what it’s worth, I am white.)

That is SO perfect. Golfer and Gator both have goofy little grins on their faces and only the viewer feels the tension of that outstretched hand… We go around with goofy little grins and we never know what’s lurking out there. Ignorance is bliss. Thanks, AGAIN for illustrating life, Wiley.

gator trivia: humans run about 12 mph, gators about 17 mph. dinner time! gators have to stop to change direction. if youŕe good at zig-zagging, you can “outrun” the gator.

When did Urkel become a racial slur? He was a sit-com nerd, and Tiger does look a bit nerdy. Other than their both being black, I don’t see the connection. The humor in Urkel’s character was based on his nerdiness, not his race. I take offense in people manufacturing a slur where there is none for the sake of being offended. I’d like some explanation for why it’s offensive.

I’m glad I selected AZ over FL when I moved from cold weather. A major consideration for me was any place with large weather problems (hurricanes, tornadoes etc) I just wanted to live as worry free as possible in golden years (and my X was still living in FL until shortly after when he died of lung cancer).
