Varel’s comics often suggest that he is a very confused person, but this is ridiculous. If the bird of peace is the Israeli government, then yes, it’s small because they have such little desire for peace. If it represents pro-Israeli democrats, then the dove is inappropriate. They will keep Israel well-armed. But the real problem is the big red bird. It suggests that being pro-Palestinian is wrong. Are we supposed to hate the Palestinians as a people and want more death and destruction? Yes, Biden is on a tightrope. But any President who truly represents the people will never be on anything wider than a narrow plank. This is and has always been a country of divergent interests that must be balanced. I think opposing that concept is what MAGA is about. No balance; just domination and control.

Varvel isn’t being too harsh. Varvel is not being harsh enough. Palestinians could end their suffering overnight just by releasing the hostages. Their misery is completely of their own making.

Bibi’s war has demolished much and killed many.. and turned much of the world into sympathizers of the Palestinian plight. Well done Bibi! But, has left the traditional supporters of Israel in an awkward position. Joe is in an awkward spot, made worse by the advice from the republicans using this event for political purposes. I understand that “Pro Hamas” is equal to supporting a murderous terrorist organization but what is wrong with being Pro Palestine? They’re not the same thing – at least not until Israel’s indiscriminate actions result in everyone in Gaza joining Hamas to avenge their innocent children’s deaths. I know I know! – Israel had innocents die who also need to be avenged but they’ve done that 30,000 times over by now.

Republicans are a strange party. They hate the Jews but love Iseral. Is that only because the Jews, that they hate, are over there instead of being here? Republicans refused to allow the German Jews trying to leave Nazi Germany to come into America and forced them to return to Germany to die in Nazi gas chambers.

The world is lucky that all the usual suspects here, were not around in the late 30s and 40s. Nazi Germany would be ruling the world.

Include ALL of the history, including Haj Amin al-Husseini, the grand mufti of Jerusalem and his agreements with Hitler for a Jewish Genocide. Fast forward and Israel who occupied Gaza since being attacked in 1967, disengaged Gaza in 2005. Terrorist group Hamas was elected into government by the Palestinian people. Even a blind person must admit there would have been no way that Hamas preparations could have been completely secret. A large number of Palestinian people were knowledgeable about all of the Oct 7 preparation making them complicit in the Oct 7 Hamas sneak attack and barbarism against Israel. Only people who want to see a Jewish Genocide sing “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.

So in Gary’s world, killing tens of thousands of women and children via indiscriminate bombing (not to mention a few international aid workers with very targeted bombing) is “peace”.

Many of the issues here reminds me of an incident at the local university where after the 9-11 attacks, people wanted to confront anyone who wore different garb; so a group confronted a young lady wearing a salwar kameez and head scarf about her people killing Americans; did not like me interfering in their intimidation, especially when I pointed out she was a Sikh which is Hindu and not Islamic. Also, I asked them; how they determined guilt of people attending university classes to events taking place over 600 miles away, and when it turned violent what were their justification for attacking the innocent; the same as the terrorist who are preforming the acts? FYI I would not let them go until they apologized to the young lady, many of them hated me, but that has been my whole life since birth

Typical Varvel: Light on facts, heavy on opinion, no context. I am amused with the insinuation the Israel is the peace-loving part of this equation. Maybe Varvel will wrap his head around this: Hating what Netanyahoo and Israel have done is not anti-Semitic, it is anti-war. It is anti-genocide. It is getting pi**ed off about 1200 deaths v. over 34,000 deaths, largely based on an intelligence failure, intentional or otherwise.
